Just flicked the tv over to see how we were going. 8 min left 4th qtr and we have 2 points to their 24 (3 goals). Now, I am no expert on the women's game, but shouldn't a viable football team competing at the highest level with 2 seasons experience be capable of scoring at least 1 goal? Looks like we have some very serious issues to sort out here. No finals again it appears.

Looks like we scored one finally, 3 min left. Still, I think my OP stands.

All I see is a rolling maul as was last week, much like the men's game. Beyond fcukin ugly, it is down right putrid. The AFL should be trialing zones in the AFLW, 6 I50, 6 D50 and 6 on the ball, this is no spectacle and it's benefiting no one.

Not very good.

I have been watching over the 3 seasons so far.

They ditched players that were All-Australian last year for example.

Layton is not AFLW standard, but an elite athlete at another sport. Hasn't played footy since Y12.....christ!

Coaching is garbage too. Get rid of him might be a good start.

I'm not going to bag the girls who are playing, they're clearly having a dip and doing their best.

The skill level is the skill level.

But gotta coach with what ya got. And we always look 2nd out there.

From the first 5 mins we looked like we were gonna lose. That's three seasons of zip two start. And in a short season, thats means it's all over in round 2.

Whatever we are doing as W club, it needs to change tact.

North were allowed by the AFLW rules to go and poach players as they were a new club. The same will happen next year when the Hawks and Tigers join the competition.

At this stage, the talent pool is spread too thin.
There is also the jump up from local level to AFLW - some players a big fish in a little pond like Moana Hope. She kicked bags of goals at local level but that hasn't translated to AFLW.

Over the next couple of years you will see girls join the competition who have played footy right through juniors but it will take time.

As usual with most thing it does, the AFL has gone too early with bringing in new clubs to the comp.
