Mason Cox has signed a 3 year contract extension that will keep him locked away at the Pies until the end of 2020.

Whatever the cost, keep him. It's quite simple.
There is no knowing what he can be in the next 3 years.

In three years he'll be 30 years old and near the end of his career.

He's worth keeping but more as a backup than a definite first team member. If he doesn't want that then he should leave. I don't think he's going to work as a second tall forward and at 27 he's not a long term answer anyway.

I've been enticed by his improved play late in the season, but the more I think about it the more I hope he leaves. We've stuffed around enough, and lost enough games, trying to fit two rucks in our 22. Our team looked best with Reid forward or with a small forward line. I don't want us to waste another year trying to play a ruckman at full forward. If he's happy to mostly be a backup, great. If we're going to try and turn him into Paul Salmon, no thanks, it's going to fail.

Aaron Sandilands is 35 years old and was an AA in 2014 which would have made him 32 .Your point???

I can't find anything but positives in this resigning--his tap work is excellent and would be very close to best set shot for goal

People saying he's already 26 forget the fact that his body hasn't been pummelled with pre seasons and match day for 8 years since he was 18. His body is essentially 23-24 in AFL terms.

Great move IMO.

2 tall forwards and 3 ruck options with Moore, Cox and Grundy in the team together.

Goldie first option for the defensive forward to apply forward pressure

3 small forwards got a bag to choose from, Billy, Fas, and De goey would be first choices, with Daics, Kirby, Brown, Blair (if Batmod doesn't get him), Mayne, Crocker and others to rotate through.

Thing that leaps out for me, is Key Forward.

If we're going to buckle Cox and grundy into the second tall forward spot, FFS draft a decent young prospect who can have 2 years development time.

Clubs trade for ruckmen who're 26+ all the time, who've played F all games but are finally coming good as they mature.

I agree about his body, he could potentially play to 35+
