Have you heard of Finn O'Sullivan, he's Cal Twomey's early tip for a top 10 pick in 2024 draft. The kid from Koroit west of Warrnambool is playing for the Oakleigh Chargers this year. He's already has close ties, his cousin is Sam Walsh from Carlton and his grandfather is former Collingwood player Murrie Batt.

We go into the National Draft Pick picks #19, #38, #79, #97

These picks are prior to any F/S, Academy pick adjustments and the later picks become upgraded once pick swaps and other Clubs exhaust their list requirements.

But as it stands, pick #19 has given us the following players and no. of games played for the CFC :
1996 Collingwood Brent Tuckey - 19 games
1998 FS Collingwood Nick Davis - 71 games
2000 FS Collingwood Jason Cloke - 76 games
2012 Collingwood Ben Kennedy - 25 games
2020 Collingwood Finlay Macrae - 12 games
2022 Collingwood Ed Allan - yet to debut

All eyes now go to Cal Twomey's phantom draft.

Just had a look on the afl site https://www.afl.com.au/news/1030664/cal ... er-ranking

Some interesting prospects around our pick, a few big men if thats your go, and of course mids, we do have a few (many) 30 year olds on our list, the next few drafts will be interesting.

Our first pick will be next best. If he’s anything over 188cm, consider it a real bonus.

Ashton Moir for me

This time last year was considered top 5 prospect

Spent the preseason training with Glenelgs seniors and didn’t look out of place

Had a interrupted season playing all over the place; Glenelg under 18s, Glenelg reserves, sa under 18s, school, academy

Kicks 50m either foot and good mark and shot for goal, ideal replacement for elliot

We have 6 spots available overall after delisting 5 and trading Adams and Ginni and recruiting Schultz.

2 draft picks and 1 rookie upgrade still leaves 4 overall vacancies. Are we going to be hitting the rookie draft or sit tight and maybe get a couple of boys in training over preseason like we did with Steene and Oleg?

AFL list size

Post by LaurieHolden »

The minimum list size for each club in the **2023 AFL season** was 37 players.
This can be made up by as little as 36 senior listed players and one rookie.
To reach a maximum list size of 44, clubs can carry ~
**36-38 senior listed players ;
**four-to-six Category A rookies ; and
**two Category B rookies**.

Refer to our current list :

The first two picks will glean 2 players with an impressive bio and fantastic attributes, that is certain. The old can’t believe they were still available, can jump, has pace, hard at it, exquisite skills etc

Almost certain the 2 uncontracted (Begg Kelly) will be retained now we didn't get a key position, then it's just a DFA and maybe hold a space for the MSD.

SUMMARY:

Primary list outs:

* Adams
* Ginnivan
* Draper
* Ruscoe
* Bianco

Rookie List outs:

* Murley

Cat B Rookie outs:

* Wilson

Current Ins:

* Schultz: to main list
* Markov: to rookie list

Draft Picks:

* 19, 33, 80 and 98

Other levers:

* March SSP Rookie Draft
* De-listed Free Agents
* Draft picks swap are still active from October 28th up to a week before draft approximately.

Denote:

* Clubs can still delist players up to October 31st so Kelly and Begg aren't yet safe nor have they been offered contracts for 2024, but seems likely.
* Carmichael and Kreuger have been offered 1 year deals for 2024 and tacitly have agreed
* Mid-year rookie selections from all clubs are likely to get an extra 12 months on rookie lists so likely to see Johnson and Begg benefit from this.

Possible scenarios:

* Kelly could be shifted to the Rookie list opening up another primary list spot
* If not, we have 5 spots available on the Primary List
* We shall use 19, 33 and possibly 80 which should come in with Academy picks and Father Sons to about 55-60.
* Leaves open spots for any de-listed free agents such as a ruck or key defender or SSP upgrades in March 2024.

A Reid looks great, but with Ollie Henry’s defection I’d worry about him staying two years, building form and then asking for a trade to Essendon. Might also depend on how Alex Condon’s basketball career is looking. We look to have spare spots on our list and I’m sure we’ll be keeping a MSD spot open for him.

Thanks inxs88, thats a very informative post.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with our open list spots and if we go for any DFA's or get another surprise like Markov.
