It may be because after waiting for 39 days, Harris was interviewed for the first time.

Kamala did a number on Trump in todays debate, very good performance.

It's becoming clear that Biden's obvious slide just drew attention away from the fact that Trump's cheese is rapidly sliding off it's cracker too. He's always been full of bluster, word salad and bullshit (and outright lies) but he's rapidly becoming a self parody.

I'm amazed that Trump still appears to conflate 'asylum seekers' as inmates.
These aren't the people that are were in the "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" Oregon psychiatric hospital /psychiatric ward.

Trump's deranged claims about migrants eating dogs and cats in Springfield has sent the meme makers into overdrive, as well as musicians.

The stupid thing is that there's Trump supporters somehow trying to make positive memes out of it, with Trump the cat saviour.

Another day, another assassination attempt on Trump. This time we have a disgruntled ex Trump supporter who builds himself a shooters hide in bushes against the outside fence of Trumps private golf course and settles in with an AK57 (which is NOT a sniper rifle by any measure), a couple of Go Pro's (to film Trump being shot?) and some bags of ceramic tiles ??

Secret Service were awake this time, spotted the rifle barrel poking out of the bushes and put a couple of shots in his direction, so he abandoned shipt, left everything behind and took off to his car where he was arrested within minutes.

WTF is going on here? Is taking a pot shot at Trump the new school shooting? FFS stop it, all this is doing is enhancing his standing with his supporters.

Starting to feel a bit like this:

In a country with over 300 million people and as many as 400 million guns, it only takes a tiny percentage of people having the same idea for a queue to form – and as we’ve seen, it doesn’t take a rusted-on Democrat or militant leftist radical to do it. Any crank with no political strategy other than having an axe to grind against Trump is able to pick up a rifle and take a shot if the opportunity presents itself.

It will be interesting to see if/how the Democrats change their attack lines against Trump.

Trump had a valid point when he said that Biden/Harris etc claiming he was a threat to democracy would encourage people to try to shoot him.

The problem is, Biden/ Harris have a valid point when they say he is a threat to democracy.

And, As @David says, in a country of 300 Million people with 400 Million guns (and not a lot of accessible mental health support) and Trump being such a polarising figure, if anything it's surprising that no one has tried it before. Given how little it can take to trigger people and how easy it is to get guns, I'm betting this won't be the last attempt before the election and, if go forbid he actually gets elected as POTUS again, he's odds on to be shot dead during his term.

Big change in the market again.

Trump $1.70
Harris $2.10

I have no idea why, I have as much interest in this election as I do in AWFL.

Nice article about how and why the Electoral College system works and a comparison to our system

https://www.theage.com.au/world/north-a ... 5khk4.html

I just love this opening bit.
It’s possible that the US electoral system is perfect. How would we know when perfection had been attained? According to the great American journalist and pundit of the early 20th century, H.L. Mencken: “As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

Our system is the same. Election are determined by a small number of marginal seats, just like the US system is determined by a small number of marginal states.

Our system is no better, as once al the voting is done, the party in power is held hostage by independents and psychopaths like the Greens.

Because Harris' lead is only 2% and everyone knows that in all of the polls republicans are less likely to admit who they'll vote for.

As for the comparison, this election has provided more highlights than eight years of AFLW. More lead changes too.
