Laura um I mean the AFL has been embarrassed. If they decide to appeal they will deem the decision was incorrect. That then says those on the committee are incompetent. In saying that the MRO ruled there was no case to answer and were overruled. If I was on that committee they would have my resignation on their desk the next day. If Laura feels your can't do your job, then why are you there?RudeBoy wrote:The AFL is considering appealing the decision. I doubt they will, but it's not quite over yet. We should know for sure either way by some time this afternoon.

Absolutely. I’d nearly ban Maynard cos of that video alone. “Justice has been done.” What a complete buffoon.Jezza wrote:Embarrassing. I'm glad he's no longer our President.What'sinaname wrote:And just when you think you've seen all the village idiots.....Eddie pops us.

I think its actually a good thing it went to the Tribunal and was cleared there, otherwise we would be inundated with Chrisso, the MRO, ex-Collingwood player conspiracy theories.
Not the worst outcome is Melbourne and Carlton (short memories!) supporters losing their shit over the decision!

For what its worth - if I was Laura Kane I would have done exactly the same thing and referred this to the tribunal.
Having it go to the tribunal means that it gets a very thorough and open hearing. It removes doubt about bias for or against any team or player.
The depth of analysis and arguments is very clear for everyone to see.
In the end I believe the correct decision was made.
I hope Brayshaw recovers well - remember it was only a couple of years ago we made a play to try and get him to Collingwood.
I reckon Maynard has the mental toughness to now move on and having a full tribunal decision behind him gives him clear air.

Who here does not now understand what happened in the incident?
Where the line might be with duty of care vs accidents?
This matter had to go to the tribunal so the arguments could be prosecuted.
A final. A player knocked out for two mins. What seemed like a shoulder charge.
It was a wise decision to go to the tribunal and we are all wiser for it.

Oh come on, hes no longer our President, is not on the Board, hes just an enthusiastic fan now, a FAN, one eyed fan, and fans can do that sort of things. Ever been to the Cricketer's arms pub, Punt rd, post a great Magpies victory, out the back, with the real LOUD FANS ??. Nah thought not.

The AFL overruled the MRO because they wanted a suspension. They’re discussing today if they can appeal and get a suspension. This wasn’t a case of “cool and calm heads”, it was pretty heated between the AFL and MRO. You’re painting Dillon, McLachlan and Kane in far too flattering a light.think better wrote:For what its worth - if I was Laura Kane I would have done exactly the same thing and referred this to the tribunal.

It still remains unproven without footage that I more than once led the Club song at Nicks Greek Tavern after a solid afternoon in the Victoria Park Social Club.Piesnchess wrote:Ever been to the Cricketer's arms pub, Punt rd, post a great Magpies victory, out the back, with the real LOUD FANS ??. I miss those days.

Could the Melbourne football club and family whinge anymore?
* Goodwin sooks
* Joel Smith and Shaun Smith whinge
* Brother Hamish Brayshaw claiming rigged and sooking
* Mrs Brayshaw dismissing Brayden's visitation gesture
* Garry Lyon whingeing
Back in May this season when Gold Coast and Dees played and Van Rooyen punched the ball and side of Charlie Ballard's head and initially got suspended, all we heard from Sportsbet coach Simon Goodwin was the "fabric of the game is in jeopardy and it's an accident"....
