No problem with any of that, but was it the "Aids" thing that did him? Would it have been laughed off if he said "Herpes" instead?

I wouldn't have thought either would be acceptable. Whether one is considered worse than the other, I'm not sure. But a smart player would simply stay right away from making any offensive remarks to fans on a public forum.

What makes the Brock McLean incident amusing to us fans is the fact that the Scum went through a review of how to use social media appropriately just two weeks ago.

It shows a lack of intellect from Brock McLean.

This isn't the thread for it, but I actually had some respect for McLean. He came to the Scum as a "star" signing, for a number 11 draft pick. Not long after arriving he was relegated to the VFL and has struggled to regularly find a spot in the senior side since (partly due to injuries). His attitude during this period has been great, he's worked hard in the VFL and is usually among the best. Whenever I've heard him speak to the media all he talks about is working hard on improving his game and earning a spot. When, through injury, he got an extended run in the seniors, he's been one of the few Blues to stand up this year.

So yeah, I had some respect for the bloke. Not so much after reading a few of his tweets (not just those highlighted in the media).
