I hate to play devil's advocate, but if he does go is it really that bad??

We are going to have to lose someone of value to:

A: keep the players we have

And

B: to get somthing we need, if we have 4 clubs after him it will mean bidding war.

He is 28, and he is no sure thing to stay fit. Dont get me wrong love himas a player...but we will lose somone.

I too looked for the “sauce” on Billy but it’s buried deeper than I can find

A bit saying Collingwood into 23 yr old 199cm / 90+ kilo Port player Dougal Howard

No bidding war as he is a free agent & at best we will get 2nd round pick.

Need to keep Billy

Sounded to me like Bucks was trying to convince Elliott and Grundy to stay.

“We have to consider his needs from a financial perspective, but I think he’s in a position where he can really back himself, so I think he will do that.”

"Really back himself" sounds like "accept a one/two-year deal at the Pies instead of a two/three-year deal at another club".

Given his injury history we'd be foolish to offer him anything more than 2 years.

I hope Elliott stays but I hope Grundy, de Goey and Moore stay more so if not matching opposition offers for Elliott helps us in our ability to retain those 3 beyond next season then I accept the environment Ned Guy is having to operate in.

The advantage other clubs have is they can risk a few injury-prone players because they don't have many now.

It'd suck that we spent years helping Billy get back on the park, and when he finally does, another club gets him and reaps all the rewards.
