Comments from Carlton's BigFooty Board:
We can't continue to play Curnow and Carrazzo to play in the same team
It was a disgraceful performance and the only reason it doesn't look as bad on the scoreboard is because the supplements started wearing off the Ess* players.
Still not impressed, I'm not a fan of brave loses. Especially against the bombers.
Our kicking is amateur league level.

Despite how well we played in the last quarter, we still suck as much as we have the past fortnight.
So many names out there I wouldn't have expected to still be on the list at this time a few years ago, we are really lacking development

Need to question if Mick is hurting the development of the side
People who blame our kicking for goal on the loss are mistaken, a team shouldn't have to rely on whether or not they're fairly accurate on goal to win a game. We were poor all around the ground.
gee there's still a stench about this team that won't quit.
21 pts. We were lucky. Poor kicking and umpires are not the only reason we lost. Effort, heart and game plan are also a huge factor. Long long long way to go to be competelitive.
Grade C-
This is what some Carlton people have become, virtually content with a loss
It's wonderful isn't it!
Typical. Takes until we're 5 goals down to put up an effort.

Sick of the shit we dish up.
That was awful.

Quite possibly the lowest standard game I've seen us involved in.
Paying for years of poor recruiting.

Mad Micks infamous quote, "I honestly cant see us losing a single game this season" is on a par with a guy named Dick Rowe, Chief of Decca records, " Rock groups with guitars are on the way out now, sorry Mr Epstein, I can see no future for your Band, we cannot sign them". THAT band was a then unknown group, called the BEATLES !

29 scoring shots to 24.
Honourable loss to an honourable opponent.
lol typical carlton end to a game

try late, miss all the shots on goal

other team gets a sealer

'honorable loss'
Never a brave loss. Those words are already trademarked.
I'll spew up
Well that went well inside 50 for a run in goal.
Same mistakes all afternoon and no counter.
They played well for one quarter and the first half of the first.
The usual shit kicking for goal didn't help.
yeah,
they're reeling out the epithets for the cheats now.
oh what a brave win.

#*#off.
I miss Ratts
I don't.

And now they are calling us "Brave", I almost threw up
whats a preeeeeemiership flag?
Something you won't be seeing for some time to come...
@#$%&! you drug cheats!!

@#$%&! you Carlton!!

I'm out....
Later, chump.
brave?
Been 0-3 each of the last three seasons under MM.
Image
Casboult should have been the difference
@#$%&! this shits me
@#$%& this amuses me
Can't blame the Madhouse for shit skills
3rd year in. When will he start taking responsibility?
Shit skills can sometimes equal no or low confidence.
Extraordinary how things don't go our way
Always tough when we are down on skills.
Reckon we've got the scoring shots title all but wrapped up now, so that's a win for Carlton circa 2015. Moving forwards, not backwards, upwards, not forwards, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards the premiership.
And that is why Ellard is in the team instead of more "skilled" players.
I like Ellard.
I liked Brock too.
I tend to like our players.
others tend to loathe them.
I tend to loathe coach(es.)
15 minutes at the end of the second quarter killed us. We ran out of gas
There is always some excuse for Carlton.
Appropriate that a throw ended the game for us. We've got nothing from the umpires all day.
Completely forgot this game was on - no bullshit...

Can probably guess how it panned out though... :|

By my reckoning, they had seven free kicks for goal.
Had we kicked straight in the last, we win.
MM can use that to save face.
The Irish kid will be a player.
Cripps will be one.
Murphy had 30 possessions but I was surprised to hear that. They weren't telling possessions but good on him for getting his hands on it at least.
Wood did well, which says something about the Essendon* rucking division.
Bell does some good things but that 50 in the last undid most of them.
Docherty will be a player
Armfield should play next week.
Rowe looks out of his depth.
I think Casboult might get dropped. He has so much potential but tonight he was very quiet and didn't seem to spend any real minutes in the forward line.
Walker will be better for the run but he should pay forward.
Yarran won the fight but won't play next week. Chapman has a glass jaw and they exploited the concussion rule to prove they will stoop to everything.

They drive me to distraction.

Always next week.
Pretty subdued, actually...

Casboult was reasonable. Won't get dropped because he's the 2nd ruck. Other second ruck is Rowe so that answer the question there. Rowe I hope can get back to last years form.

Armfield should always play only for the fact he's an unusual breed here...he actually has a go.

Missing Waite. He gave us direction going forward. Waite and Henderson gave us some potency. With Jones it gives us no confidence going forward. Better off with Watson there.
OUCH!
If any one here thinks Carrazzo, Ellard and Jones aren't the first names on the chopping block, I give up.

Ellard was too slow and played like a frustrated man. Carrazzo was regularly lumbering along like he'd pulled his calf and Jones faded in and out more than a shitty pub DJ.

After that, play a zone structure so we're not so not every turn over is a goal, and so we actually feel like running when we get the ball back...
RANDOM THOUGHTS!

well put a hose up my bum and clean me out. Ellard kicked a goal.

gibbs and murphy are abominable. watching the game ... the absence of staying with their man, 2nd efforts, being hard at it. they'd be the first on the trade table this offseason. Cash them in for whatever we can get (late 1st round picks?!)

Tuohy is back. Hendo is solid. Jones ran today, for the first time in his life he freaking ran!

The new irish kid added some run and carry. Godbless Yarran and his left hook.

Simpson. Make him captain by monday morning.

when we don't have the ball, we are like the blind men from Alabama. No one fills the zonal space, no one goes to a man. We literally stand there looking at one another. Witches Hats are more proactive! Witches Hats!

Wood finally showed, and the value of a ruck who can compete at the stoppages showed its importance once again.

Rowe ... god christ almighty he is a passenger. He can't do anything. With Jamison's decline, we actually need a KDP more than a forward.

our kicking at goal makes me nauseous. We had more shots at goal today and still lost by 20. We beat them at the stoppages and the clearances. we still lost.

FWIW ... i think we are not being coached well at any level. Defensively, in the middle, up front and of course the head coach is almost a decade past it at this point.

We better beat st kilda, but it will be a battle of the spoon. loser wins it.
May the less worse man win...
Carrazzo has been great for this club but he is gone. We play too many of the same types. Poor selection and structure.
And on the subject of Plod, Plodder and Plodderer...
All three will be playing next week. If not, CK may eat his own shit.
I think Curnow's name is right up there too.

...more quotes from BigFooty
I'm done with MM as coach, still has good knowledge of the game to give but not as coach. But I think MM wouldn't what to do anything but be a head coach in AFL.
What has Jones done?

Nothing personal against Jones, he may yet make it, but fairs fair and he hasn't set the world on fire at all. Some decent tacking and threw himself at some packs but at end of the day Mick says forwards need to kick goals and Jones is hardly threatening the Coleman medal now is he
Liam Jones is the recruit of the year
Our ******* development was shit before Mick even showed up at the club. It started with Pagan and disintegrated even more under Ratts. At least Mick is trying to sort out our development issues. We still have a number of players at the club who have been destroyed by our shit development programs under Ratts.
Yep that's why Daisy and Jones are brilliant recruits under Mick!
Malthouse is ordinary - he has coached the side into a confused slow predictable game style - with predictable entry and an epic FAIL to understand that games are won straight through the middle.
MADHOUSE!
If we don't beat Saints and maybe without Riewoldt I will be so angry.
I will be so happy.

The lesser of two evils won but they're both as bad as each other and my hate and disdain towards Essendon in the last two years has increased significantly.

I just checked the results of the "Would you rather be a St Kilda or [Blooz] supporter right now?" poll that sits under Matt's story. With 3,133 votes cast, the poll is running 80% to 20% in favour of supporting the 'Aints.

Some of the comments on Matt's article are an entertaining read, too.

Would you rather be a Collingwood or Carlton fan right now?

Could the season have started any sweeter? 0-3 for the Bluebaggers!

Week 1 - Carlton give fans hope by getting off to a flyer. they then get over-run by a hated enemy. sadly, dale Thomas is ruled out for an extended period.

Week 2 - one small piece of the Judd trade kicks 10 goals against them (Carlton kick 9 total). Judd of course was brought in on the mistaken belief that they were close to a premiership. THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES!

Week 3 - the lose to their other enemy, the bombers and then the Age publishes this gem of a story basically confirming that they are actually at the end of an era and are not rebuilding anything.....
