Demattia looks like a junior version of Beau McCreery with all that hair and the disco mo. Looks like a good pick from here
Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

Speed, skilled and a playmaker..good mid size. As good a pickup as I'd hoped.

Pick 25, could have been taken 12 picks ago. (So says Hine ...probably lol)

We basically have pick 8 tomorrow night with players like Roberts Schoenmaker Murphy Morris Reid M Edwards Simpson Jiath Stevens Sanchez Zakostelsky Hastie Delean Lual and Bodie Ryan still on the board.

Longshot: O'Driscoll WA boy won the 20m sprint, we've drafted the last 3 winners of that race in McInnes, Harrison and Allan.

In order, hope we target these players for our second pick:

* Schoenmakers, then
* Morris
* A Reid

Hine mentioned we would be picking two players only with a preference of using the SSP draft but hope if a player of interest is still there in the third round, we consider grabbing them.

^ pretty much how I see it. I'd still be happy with Bodie Ryan to be added to that list.

Schoenmaker can take the kick-ins for the next decade...love a left footer clearing defence.

There's plenty of promising project players left in the mix, the academy bids might just have done us a favour.

It is kind of bullshit having pick #18 it after all the compromises ending up using it at #25… I suppose we have been beneficiaries of father son and academy picks of late.

Agree though that clubs taking their priorities leaves more players on the table.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

Late Mail

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/1/

COLLINGWOOD

Current draft haul: Harry DeMattia (pick 25)

Current picks: 37, 65, 76, 80

The Pies are fans of Tasmanian superboot Arie Schoenmaker on the first night, but he might be taken by the time they are on the clock. Logan Morris and Archie Reid were both linked to their first choice but, again, are likely to be in demand early in the second round. After bidding on contested ball-winner Caiden Cleary, could they take tall WA midfielder Clay Hall? Collingwood will likely take one or two more selections in the national draft, and they have also shown an interest in Stingrays forward Kade De La Rue and Sandringham Dragons defender Matt Carroll throughout the year. Meanwhile, athletic Tasmanian Geordie Payne, who blitzed the state combine earlier in the year, is also in the mix late or as a rookie pick.
