Long may Mick's reign of success continue at Carlton!

Let's hear it for Mick, Butters and Daisy, the Carlton saboteurs!

I wonder how those over at the carlscum boards feel about the Gibbs signing.

It wasn't that long ago that they were dreaming about another top 10 selection in return for him to stock up on some key position talent.

Going by what I read from TankingCarlton they seem satisfied with the deal because they feel they haven't paid 'overs' to keep Gibbs at the club.

While on the subject of signings, does anyone else think it's daft to have signed Kade Simpson (who was 30 in May this year) for another two years, until the end of 2016?

Wouldn't you just sign someone that age on a one year contract? Their list management skills are putrid.

The sting here is that Simpson, for mine, has probably been their best player for a fair while now. I've come across more than just the odd poster at Tanking Carlton saying that Simpson should have been their captain instead of Murphy...

Having said that, yes, list management orthodoxy does suggest that you sign guys on the wrong side of 30 on a year-by-year basis. On the other hand, it also doesn't recommend signing middle of the road players to 5 year deals. Or players with bung ankles to 4 years and $750k...

Maybe Gibb's manager never received a return phone call from 17 other clubs.
