Injury Update: Round Five
There were no injuries following last Thursday’s clash against Brisbane at the Gabba.
It’s a big week for Nathan Krueger, who is a chance to be available for the forthcoming weekend, providing he gets through all training sessions this week.
Under the 12-day protocol, Will Kelly missed last weekend’s VFL match against Brisbane with concussion. He is participating in non-contract training at the moment, with the intention to move into contact training later in the week. He will need to be assessed prior to the weekend.
Developing ruckman Aiden Begg underwent medical interventions on his back injury that has assisted his progress. He has started conditioning work and is starting to feel much better. Begg will work to build up his running loads and is expected to return in Rounds Six or Seven.
Young midfielder Arlo Draper has made some progress in his return from a concussion he experienced late in the preseason. The Club is working closely with Arlo to ensure that his long-term health is at the forefront of his rehabilitation process. He will be taking part in non-contact training this week.
Mason Cox is still on complete rest with a spleen injury. The Club will be able to provide a further update next week following a follow-up review.
Darcy Cameron is still walking around in a brace after injuring his MCL in our Round Three win against Richmond. The Club is hopeful he will be able to remove some of the restrictions of that brace and commence gym work later in the week.
After returning to the Club for the first time earlier this week, Jeremy Howe has some follow up reviews later in the week to make sure his infection is all clear. The signs are really positive at the moment, with his bone is healing well. Once his stitches are removed and his cleared for activity, he’ll be able to increase his lower body work. He is currently working with the therapist focusing on hand strength and rehab in his forearm area.
Patrick Lipinski is now back running and will continue to be in non-contact conditioning training for the next month or so before he can get back into full training.
Charlie Dean is progressing well, walking around pain-free and without crutches. He's entered a period of his rehab where he's working on the strength through his foot.

Cox was meant to have one (another scan) mid this week. Does this mean he has had this and they are waiting for another one now?

Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.
The Pies just posted this on their website.
Daniel McStay (Finger) had a flexor tendon injury in his finger and was subsequently subbed out of the game in the first quarter against St Kilda. Scans confirmed a complete rupture and therefore, McStay has completed surgery. He will need to avoid ball work for six weeks but will quickly return to gym work and running in the near future.

Injury update Round 6
Jordan De Goey (illness) was a late withdrawal from last weekend’s Round Five clash against St Kilda. He has some minor lingering effects of that illness and is currently completing training off-site. He will join the group later in the week.

Nathan Murphy (Concussion) is currently in the concussion protocol. He has completed 48 hours of being completely symptom free and is currently working through the relevant stages. Murphy completed some light running at today’s training session. A further update will be provided next week.
Jakob Ryan (Neck/Shoulder) was a late omission from Sunday’s VFL game against Box Hill after having symptoms of pain in his neck and shoulder. The Club’s High Performance team are currently undertaking some further investigation. Ryan is unlikely to be available for this weekend’s game but will be assessed later in the week.
Joe Richards (Hamstring) injured his hamstring at the start of the third quarter in Sunday’s VFL clash against Box Hill. The grading is medium, and it is expected that he’ll be available in four to six weeks.
Aiden Begg (Back) is tracking well and should be available for game time next week. He will participate in two weeks of full training before being considered for selection.
Arlo Draper (Concussion) is back into full training this week and has been symptom free. Draper will also need to participate in two weeks of full training before being available for selection.
Mason Cox (Spleen), Darcy Cameron (MCL), Jeremy Howe (Arm), Patrick Lipinski (Shoulder), and Charlie Dean (Foot) are all progressing well with their rehab. The Club will provide more information and narrowing of timeframes in due course.
