Tribunal outcome after the 1990 1/4 time brawl...

Terry Daniher (Essendon): Charged with striking Gavin Brown and striking Craig Starcevich. Suspended for 12 matches.

Graeme Allan (Colllingwood football manager): Charged with striking Essendon runner Peter Power and conduct unbecoming of a team official. Suspended for six matches and fined $15,000.

Eddie Hillgrove (Colllingwood team manager): Charged with assaulting Essendon bootstudder Graham Menola and conduct unbecoming of a team official. Suspended for six matches and fined $7,500.

Darren Bewick (Essendon): Charged with striking and rough conduct against Tony Shaw, kneeing Denis Banks, and striking Doug Barwick. Cleared of first three charges; suspended for four matches.

Gavin Brown (Colllingwood): Charged with striking Kieran Sporn. Suspended for three matches.

Kieran Sporn (Essendon): Charged with striking Denis Banks. Suspended for two matches.

John Synan (Essendon doorman): Charged with charging Colllingwood team manager Eddie Hillgrove and conduct unbecoming of a team official. Fined $5,000.

Craig Kelly (Colllingwood) and Paul Van Der Haar (Essendon): Charged with striking each other. Both found not guilty.

Derek Kickett (Essendon): Charged with striking Mick McGuane. Found not guilty.

My ranked GF premierships (recent times only):

2023 - the magpies team is poetry in motion
1990 - the most nervous day in my life, opened my bottle of Colliwobble wine
2010 - WTF who's gong to win? We did the following week - easy.

2023 right now but 2024 if we win it again will top them all and become our greatest ever flag and a flag that will establish that long awaited and much needed magpie collingwood dynasty yet to be witnessed since the 1930s.

^ Looks like for a certain generation (at least 45 years or older), 1990 is still the pinnacle. 2023 more so for those under 45.

Interesting to see your Dad ranked 2010 higher than 2023.

I have seen all three. I rank them 1990, 2023 and then 2010.

1990 seemed like redemption after so many cursed years.

2023 was the culmination of two miracle years - 23 itself and the great comeback year of 22.

2010 was a great year -esp that stunning prelim - but it did not have the unique “story” of the other two.

Denis Banks (Colllingwood): Ignites the 1/4 time brawl by admitting [decades later to Mike Sheehan] to kicking Karen Sporn in the ankle, which started the whole shit fight in the first place. Walks away uncharged and scot-free...

The Original "Well that escalated quickly!" scenario...

Oh, and 1990, 2023 and 2010, in that order thanks.
2002 + 2018 had we won, would have been right up there in the running too.

Yeah anyone who lived through the almosts of the 70s/80s would think that I reckon

1990 I lived in Abbotsford while in the last year of my apprenticeship at Talbot Motors on Johnston Street so I went to a lot of games which was great

2010 I moved to Shanghai in July, watched the drawn GF in a sports bar there - obviously a lot of non-footy fans there who couldn’t believe when we replied to What now? with Come back next week and do it all again

A few days later my grandfather - a lifelong Collingwood fanatic/member - passed away so I returned for the funeral and watched the GF replay at the Carringbush hotel. So that one obviously has special significance for me

2023 I am still living overseas and had to get up at 6am to watch live but was a very cathartic result after 2011 and 2018

Would be nice if we can improve on our 1 in 3 ratio for the next one

Yeah. I guess 2023 is just so fresh.

Being at the ground, getting one back on the Lions, it being a corker of a match, and then winning by under a goal... How could it not be my #1?

I dont know if Dad put much thought into it. just said 90, 10, 23. But i was expecting him to say 90, 23, 10.

Another reason that 23 beats 10 for me is the absense of Presti in the final team. Yes the draw was unbelievable. Yes the replay was one of the greatest days. But I'm always a bit sad when they show Presti in the stands late in the game.

I've actually watched the draw and replay very recently.

For me,

1990. The drought breaker, redemption fro the 70's and 80's

2010. That draw nearly shattered me. To come out the next week and win was just electrifying.

2023. Bit older now, more jaded, loved the win but just doesn't have the emotion of the other 2.
