Adams trade to Sydney ~ all comments

^pick 23 is all we will get back but that’s ok. We need to find a spot for McRae in this side.
The cliff is coming with the age profile of this team, look at Geelong last year and we were the 3rd oldest. Inject some youth and extend the window.
Not sure if the youngsters coming through will be the answer but we can’t rely on the 30+s for too much longer.
Howe, Elliot and a few others should be moved on in the coming seasons. If you ain’t improving your list you’re going backward. Exception though is Pendles and Sidey get to go on their terms.

The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

On height to weight ratio Finn MacRae isn't the same player as Adams. Adams is markedly strongerCulprit wrote:Clubs approach players all the time. Swans need an inside mid and see Adams as an option, why wouldn't they? If the right offer is on the table and Adams agrees to go then he goes. We have Fin McRae who we want to keep and Nick Daicos will go into the midfield more so someone has to get squeezed out.
Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more.

I agree, but that old adage kicks in "potential". Btw, I don't want to see Adams go but it won't be up to us it will be up to Adams.Newelly wrote:On height to weight ratio Finn MacRae isn't the same player as Adams. Agree but Finn won’t get any better languishing in the 2s. Needs to play a solid block in the ones to see if he’s a player or not.Newelly wrote:On height to weight ratio Finn MacRae isn't the same player as Adams. Adam’s playing more half fwd role anyway. Has to happen IMO.

I agree with the Geelong comparison up to an important point around midfielders. The cats top 2 mids were Selwood and Dangerfield of which the former retired and the latter was frequently injured this year. Our top 2 mids are in their prime - Daicos and Degoey. The backups for those 2 are old in Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Mitchell, Crisp and Adams.Haff wrote:^pick 23 is all we will get back but that’s ok. We need to find a spot for McRae in this side.

Pendles and Sidebottom played well in the Gf and that suggests another year is desirable for both.
Another young mid isn't a bad idea but a tall target might also be on trade radar?

While Adams would be one of my first selected each week, if we don't evolve, other Clubs will go past us.
This is not a Grundy / Treloar situation.
We don't want to see an ageing warrior, that succumbs to injuries and competition for spots play his career out in the two's.
Allow him to have a say on how he goes out. He'll always be a favourite son.

Sometimes felt that way, yes. Though, I also agree with those who suggest we need a young 3rd mid to find his way into the rotation.eddiesmith wrote:Tell Sydney to get $%$ed.
The whole point of Mitchell wasn’t to replace him but compliment him, the fact neither of them are reliable to play 25 games a season means we need both.
