And if I’m Fin Macrae, I’ve started my preseason already.
I'd love to see what Fin Macrae can do next year with another pre-season under his belt. Good opportunity and could well be good enough to take Adams/Mitchell's spot.

Very clearly we've said to him at his exit meeting that we aren't going to extend his contract yet and he's going to keep playing pressure HF with 50% midfield time next year, so if you want to look around, go for it.

Sydney offers 100% midfield time and a 3 year contract and they're in the premiership window.

Would have been a hard decision but best wishes to him. If we badly wanted him to stay, he would have stayed. This is all about the clubs list management, but done respectfully. We;ll get a pick around the late 30's for him and create salary cap space and an opportunity for young blood.

We just won a flag without him, we can do it again.

Great servant of the club, love him to bits, move on with best wishes and always welcome back once your career is finished.

Let us set the stage for Adams around Longmire. Here is Dirge by Bob Dylan :D

Only has to dislodge a 3x Crimmins and Brownlow medallist and a Copeland / All Australian winner.
Let's keep the discussion to Adams in this thread.

Yo be fair, MacRae wouldn’t be dislodging the fourth placed Mitchell in the Copeland, he’d be dislodging Adams who would have played as a support to Mitchell in the guts. If I’m Macrae. I’m identifying an opportunity first, then attacking this pre season like never before. His last pre season was hampered by a back injury, so you would think there’s improvement, so the real question is - just how much improvement does he have in him. Likely a career defining season for him in 2024.

Lets not forget Beau. Before he was a pressure forward he was a skinny midfielder. Another preseason or 2 to build his tank, watch out.

Still salty that we put him through the rigours on Tuesday and not Thursday!

Ffs we’ve extended his career by putting him in the forward line. Averaged 16 games a season for the last four years before we put him as a 50% forward this year for 23 games

I wonder if he wasn’t injured & won a flag with this group, whether he’d have requested a trade, Club says he’s a required player.

Seems like sour grapes to me.

Sad to see Tay go. Been a great servant of the club in the past decade and deserved a flag.

In an ideal world, I think we'd want to keep him but what Sydney is offering is better for his purposes. I think he goes with our blessing and no hard feelings.

The upside to Adams vacating his position is that someone like Macrae or Allan can potentially fill the void in 2024.

Is Adams + Pick 36 for Picks 31 + 44 a fair deal?

We might be right up there as favourites, history says the 2024 flag is up for grabs.

Tay has been a great servant of the club, and has a contract in front of him which extends his career.

Good luck to him.

I'd say no, but I'm not a list manager.

I'd do Adams for pick 31 and keep 36.

I don’t think sour grapes. I think a human being looking at one more year vs 3 more years and the financial implications that go with wmthat… His emotion on GF day suggests that he may have been told next year would be his last at the pies and unfortunately he couldn’t be on the park for this years tilt.

No hard feelings for mine. I’d rather us be up to our ears in a flag September 2024 and 2025 because we have reinvigorated our list as ruthless as that sounds.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...
