I mean, yeah it was a bit distasteful, but a slap on the wrist maybe? And how'd the media get a hold of it? Could have completely been resolved without everyone knowing about it. I'm sure much worse has happened with almost every club in the passed.

I mean we've had players on party drugs, getting in fights, banging each others mrs, all kinds of shit. But lets fine Toby for not being involved, but for being the captain. What a disgrace.

^ The whole thing is a joke. It’s getting to the point that if a player doesn’t tow the AFL line they’ll get in trouble.

All the names are out now.

Perryman receives a $5k fine for being in attendance. No suspension.

For something that will never be seen by more than those that were there +1 nob, these suspensions are simply outrageous. I mean they virtually force feed our kids porn and violence and then act all surprised when they do stupid things. Another tick against following the AFL for me. And for those that think the AFL can survive mismanagement like this just look at how close the VFL came to bankruptcy. It's almost as though they want it to fail...perhaps so they can they then sell off the teams to billionaires and make it more like the overseas "model"... People may think I'm overreacting but this is how it (collapse) always happens ~ "Death by a thousand cuts".

Definitely feels like the AFL are getting much too trigger-happy with suspensions for off-field stuff nowadays. Otherwise, interpreting this theme by dressing up as the Twin Towers is cleverer and funnier than I thought AFL players were capable of, tbh.

The worst thing about corporate bluenoses is not so much that they have a warped sense of right or wrong, more that they're completely lacking in imagination and creativity – and, worse, are determined to enforce their restrictive worldview on anyone they can get their hands on. I've always said this, but don't bother complaining about "woke millennials"; it's the suits who don't believe in anything who'll ultimately get you.

False. There's CCTV. It's been seen.

By far the most controversial penalty was Idun's.

And...

Gotta wonder why they clamp down on players and coaches but allowed scum like Tom Morris to return to the industry with no penalty. Yeah, ya can't fine journos. But don't hafta give them accreditation. Then what are they gonna do?

You know what I thought exactly the same thing when I watched some clips from The Footy Furnace. There was Tom Morris pontificating (and I won't repeat what he said about a female colleague on Fox that got him sacked the first time, because even I think it was off). Seriously the media and AFL and all the bleeding hearts need to take a big walk off the plank.

And the latest is that the Giants AFLW team has come out and said how disappointed they are in the men's team. Oh seriously. As if most AFL supporters even wanted the stupid AFLW around in the first place. These triggered people need to grow a set (not hard in the AFLW) and HTFU. The first thing that always goes in a communist country is humour!

P. Ryan:

Moral police? Too sensitive? Sorry, but jokes about sexual assault are never OK

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/mor ... 5kj4v.html

'To hold a party with a “controversial couples” theme, with dress-ups and skits, is inviting trouble. This time some of those involved charged over the boundaries of good taste in the perhaps naive, probably reckless, definitely inconsiderate, hope it would all stay in-house.

It didn’t, and what footage captured on CCTV revealed, according to industry sources who are aware of what happened but want to remain anonymous due to the investigation being under way, was not good.

Even if the whole intent of the function was to offend, the thought process that led to a skit relating to the allegations made in Jarryd Hayne’s rape case – he was convicted of rape and sentenced to a prison term in 2023 before the conviction was quashed on appeal and the charges formally dropped – involving a player and a blow-up doll … well, there was no thought process.
...

Some raise arguments that the AFL is overreaching to investigate what happens in a private setting. Those arguments are meaningless and poorly considered.

Each incident is assessed on its merits regardless of the location, and people with a public profile who represent others are held to a high standard, fairly or not. AFL players have fun all over the place without doing anything offensive, as do workers at all sorts of work functions.
...

Who knows what the right penalty is? It is relevant for a football club, but for the person observing from afar it’s more important that action is taken to remind everyone this behaviour is not OK.'
