I coached him at Auskick. To be debuting so quickly is a surprise to everyone, especially him I reckon. Our injury situation is critical. There is no way the club would have envisaged him playing this year.
His old man was a pretty handy player at EFL level. His uncle Geoff Parker played Cricket for Victoria and footy for Essendon and most people don’t know that Dale ‘the flea’ Weightman is his uncle too. Not a bad pedigree.

If he turns out to be a great player then it's obviously the result of your expert coaching Damien. We'll have you to thank.Damien wrote:I coached him at Auskick. I just added to my above post Rude. I think it’s the pedigree mate.RudeBoy wrote:If he turns out to be a great player then it's obviously the result of your expert coaching Damien. Also related to Neil Crompton, the man who broke Collingwood hearts in 1964.Damien wrote:I coached him at Auskick. To be debuting so quickly is a surprise to everyone, especially him I reckon. Our injury situation is critical. There is no way the club would have envisaged him playing this year.

Might become an option in future for players talented at both sports if they don’t want to head interstate, try cricket for a couple of years and try and make the t20 riches or go back to footy and choose you own team.

Geez, some good highlights. Moves like a natural footballer and with our injury list, he's a huge bonus pickup.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

If he dominates, I'm putting you forward to head up our scouting list...Damien wrote:I coached him at Auskick. To be debuting so quickly is a surprise to everyone, especially him I reckon.
Victoria cricket captain Will Sutherland knew his former state teammate and close friend Wil Parker would be able to make a quick transition to footy after joining Collingwood in February.

The little kid on the right in my avatar was in Auskick with him and he’s now 21. That’s how long ago it was.LaurieHolden wrote:If he dominates, I'm putting you forward to head up our scouting list...Damien wrote:I coached him at Auskick. Happy to attend any game the club wants as long as they supply the cans!

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
.. also makes good quick decisions with the ball in hand, and runs to good spots. He can read the play.
He has been out of footy and he looks like he is using his natural nous to get through games.. a lot of scope for improvement here. As with all promising players, he needs the next step, we still haven't worked out his limitations.

Did the "arrival" of Parker make the Richards decision easier?

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
I was drawn to watching Parker in the last games he played... he would constantly be asking where to stand at stoppages and be counselled by Moore and others on what to do.
Even so he played with surety and his kicking was outstanding.
High hopes for this kid once his body becomes battle hardened and he get the game plan.

If Parker has got the smarts to ask about on field positioning, then he is indeed fast trekking his learning curve.
