It is possible we will turn our form around but still lose… not worried about the result - will be watching how we play.

And what about the magnificent balls-to-the-wall win the Dirty Pies had over the Eagles in Perth in the elimination final a couple of years back! Stick it up em!!! (But to be honest whilst we looked to be doing more 'us' things against the Saints it's going to take something significant to shift to get it done)

But back to the William Wallace stuff "STICKITUPEM!!!!"
Get back on top.

Who's going to break the news to Lazza that that wasn't 12 years ago...

(It's okay, I don't feel great about this either!)

Funny but I reckon we will get up and win this one. I sort of like it when we have our backs to the wall and the only way to win is to go for broke.
It doesn't hurt that everyone is immediately writing us off.
Beware the cornered Magpie!

I'd just be nice to see some spirit either way, tbh. If we can get into gear, anything can happen. But keep playing as we did in the first three rounds and we'll struggle to beat the worst teams in the comp, let alone contenders like Brisbane.

I’m just keen to see some improvement. We’re not as bad as the media suggests and hopefully we won’t see the kinds of clangers from our experienced guys again this season.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

Sidey will not play against lions is my mail
Club will say he’s being managed
But my mail is he along with Mitchell, Cox and Crisp have all been told they have 1 month to show a dramatic lift in form or there positions in the AFL team are gone and they’ll be spending extended time in the VFL
Mitchell likely the sub if he gets selected at all (there awaiting some minor injury reports)

Fair enough, if so. Hopefully it will have the desired effect!
Pendles must be coated in teflon to have been able to sidestep that conversation...

Round 4 2022 Collingwood vs West Coast
The Eagles traveled to Melbourne to face Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.
The previous week they had lost to Fremantle by 55pts. After 3 rounds they were 0-3.
They were to take on a Collingwood side playing under new coach Craig McRae, who after 2 wins to start the season suffered a competitive loss at the hands of eventual Premier Geelong.
The Eagles were given little chance on the back of form and injuries. They entered the game basically without their 1st choice midfield.
They won.
Despite going on to finish 2nd last that season with only 1 more win, on that day they found something and defied the odds.

How?

While our scoreline of 10.14 to 14.3 certainly enhanced their opportunity to win, it was more than that, and I can't help but feel it came down to those Eagles players who were able to draw on the memories of their 2018 Premiership win, who maintained enough belief they could win that day because they had beaten us on a day when the stakes were much higher.

So here we are, sitting 0-3 and we travel to face the opponent we defeated only 6 months ago to win our 16th flag.
It won't be bloody easy, even harder this time given the Brisbane location and our form over the previous 3 rounds.
Still, if any opponent in 2024 can kick start our competitive juices and remind us of what we can be achieved with a strong belief and huge desire it's this one.

Game on.

Go Pies!
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

Still sticking with my R1 &2 wish, start Naicos on the half back line to bring in class to set up our offensive drives.
Take the kick ins off Moore, Howe is a more reliable kick. That then leaves Cameron and Moore as tall targets down the line.
Instruct Maynard not to simply bomb it long down the line or into 50, he's better when he uses himself to switch play.

Having Pendles & Mitchell at the coal face to coach Macrae would seem a logical move. Mitchell better suited to lock heads with the likes of Neale.

I think this is the week where we'll see Schultz, Hill and Elliott can then resume normal service, and if the weather doesn't improve, the small forwards could be the deciding factor.

If I see another of our players not getting their shoulder in front of their opponent this week, I'll go full Terry Wallace. Too many times they've been easily shifted out of the contest, basic stuff when you're playing an opponent in a contact sport.

B: Howe Frampton Maynard
HB: IQ Moore Naicos

C: Lipinski JDG Jaicos
Foll: Cameron Mitchell Pendlebury

HF: McCreery McInnes Schultz
F: Hill Mihocek Elliott

Int: WHE, Crisp, Macrae, Noble, Harrison (SUB)
EMG: Sullivan Cox Ryan

In : WHE, Macrae, Noble, Harrison
Out : Sidebottom (OMIT), Cox (OMIT), Markov (OMIT)

It's been a miserable week in BNE weather wise to date, 3 days of rain. The BOM is again forecasting a medium chance of showers Thursday, most likely in the morning and afternoon. Light winds during the evening.
I reckon the conditions might just suit us. If it's going to be an ugly contest in slippery conditions, that's the type of game we don't need to rely heavily on skill.

Elliott was one of our best, even receiving a special mention by Fly.
Best effort... but seeing him run himself ragged in that forward line just reminds me of the power forwards we don't have.
