Despite growing up a Collingwood fan Jeremy Cameron has recently discussed turning down the Pies for the Cats.

Did you consider any other club but Geelong?
I spoke to Collingwood at that time. (Hemisphere Management Group manager) Alex (McDonald) was always like 'There's lots of options'. I was always thinking if I was going to go somewhere it was Geelong because it's country and rural and suits me. It was more so that there was no harm in saying no but hearing what teams had to say. I spoke to them (Collingwood) briefly but I always knew deep down that I didn't want to take them for a ride knowing I'm a country fella and why would I move from a big city to the middle of a big city when the only reason I'm making a move was because I could live on a farm closer to mum and dad?

From his point of view he got a premiership anyway. He would had to wait one year longer if he came to us. On the other hand, if we had Cameron in 2022 then we might just have beaten the Cats to the punch. We'd have certainly beaten the Swans in the Prelim.

Seriously, every year someone is linked to the Pies and now we've won a flag it's we missed out on someone. I could have won race 1 today as I picked the winner but didn't put any money on it. *Face Palm*

I like that we recognised a player worth going after.

I hear a lot of names bandied about, but many are just 6 of one half a dozen of the other. They offer height we are calling out for, but careful what you wish for.

Cameron on the other hand, clearly is a real tall Gun forward .. FMD my kingdom for a real one.

I'm surprised we were looking at him at a time when our salary cap situation was coming to a head.

Good player to identify of course, but I assumed we weren't in a good position to offer him anything substantive financially speaking in light of those issues we had.
