Oppo watch:
"Harry Perryman and Isaac Cumming will almost certainly not play the March 9 encounter with the Pies after suffering hamstring and quad injuries respectively.
The prognosis on [Finn] Callaghan, who has a shoulder problem, is less serious.
...
It's not guaranteed, however, that he'll be 100 per cent fit for the rematch of last year's preliminary final."

(Don't y'all get nightmares thinking about Perryman -- how Grundy kept ramming the ball down his throat in the 2019 PF? )

Nah. I would give him the season and delist if he was still really crap unless we are able to do something at the mid season draft. What'sinaname wrote:Looks like Kruger has done a hammy. Unless he is health enough to play 18 games in 2024, he needs to be delisted.
BTW, does anyone else think Shultz reminds them of a faster Stan Magro?
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm
Round Zero Team Predictions
Okay, the fluff games are out of the way. Let's look ahead to round zero (isn't than an annoying innovation). Here is mine:
B: Maynard Dean Howe
HB: Crisp Moore Quaynor
C: Jaicos DeGoey Steele
HF: Lipinski Mihocek Schultz
F: Hill McInnes Elliott
F: Cox Pendlebury Naicos
ICH: Mitchell, WHE, Cameron, Markov, Macrae
EMERG: Noble, Frampton, Johnson
Considerations:
* McInnes beats Johnson due to better leading forward tendencies straightening us up
* Dean showed his ball-getting intercepting nous tonight ahead of Frampton
* Macrae ahead of Noble (just) and reward his pre-season
Changes from Grand Final:
* Ins: Dean, Schultz and Macrae
* Outs: Murphy, Ginnivan and Frampton
Your team?

I did this exercise the other day, hard to nail a few selections.
I do think it will be Frampton down back.
Macrae has had such a good pre-season, yet, he may not make it. In:McCreery
With almost a full list, I reckon even the coaches might struggle to choose between McInnes and Johnson. And yet, we saw a lot of Cox at FF tonight, there's a chance that neither of them makes the cut.

I think Frampton stays in and so does McCreery
McRae isn’t there just yet but he’s showing his a serious talent just needs some more time
Noble will be unlucky to miss but can’t see him holding IQ or Markov out of that backline
I would start Cox at FF and depending on match ups use Frampton as second ruck at times
WHE is showing good versatility which will be handy
Our midfield rotation is going to be hard to keep up with we can bat really deep

I'm going with a small backline for this first game due to there being a couple of speedsters in the GWS forward line. To allow this to happen it means Howe and Maynard to take on the GWS guns of Greene and Hogan leaving Moore to play further up the field at CHB.
B: Maynard, Howe, Noble
HB: Hoskin-Elliot, Moore, Quaynor
C:Sidebottom, N.Daicos, J.Daicos
HF:McCreery, Mihocek, Hill
F:Elliot, Johnson, Shultz
R:Cameron, DeGoey, Mitchell
IC: Crisp, Cox, Lipinski, Pendlebury
Sub: Macrae
Emerg: Markov, Dean, McInnes
It's a toss of the coin between Johnson & McInnes. That and a few other players are going to cause selection headaches for the coach over the next week. It's a very hard team to break into atm which is going to keep a lot of pressure on everyone to maintain their form. If there isn't a lot of injuries I hope Fly McRae will take the opportunity to rest a few of our stars early in the season to given the likes of Macrae, McInnes, Dean and Ed Allan some senior experience.

Peeps, perhaps temper your expectations of this match.
Personally, I'm stoked to get it out the way, while players from both sides are rusty.
If we drop this one, the world won't end.
I hate GWS, but they are well coached with a team full of genuine goers.
Perhaps just blow the cobwebs out over four quarters, with the result being whatever it will be.
And **** injuries!
