Just to reiterate, I'm not suggesting we go after him. Just asking if you think we made the right call to 1. Not draft and 2. Not trade for when we had the chance.

Reid played for a lot longer than Stewart has so not a fair comparison. It is very hard to rate or value a player in hindsight because so many other factors come into it (the club administration, team mates, I would bet good money on him missing many games at Collingwood due to being injured, the way the maggots umpire our games etc etc.) Impossible to rationally assess him in hindsight in a hypothetical situation at Collingwood.

And we still wouldn’t want him. And where did u get the crazy idea buddy was coming to Collingwood? Amazing, people will believe anything they read just to be against the club.

1. Happy we didn't draft him, was Ok for him to go to GWS and watch his development.
2. Happy we didn't trade for him. Regardless of the low pick he went for, he would have only been depth (as he is at Essendon).

If he had shown any inkling that he could have become a key target as a forward then one or both answers above would change, but he just didn't get to that level.
Manassa is on the 50m, fakes the handball. He's going to shoot for goal, and he's put it through! HE'S PUT IT THROUGH. By golly what an individual effort. Thats got to be the GOAL OF THE CENTURY.

So, just to close out this thread, he's been delisted by the Bumblers after not playing in 2023.

He is 29, going on 30 (his birthday is in early March), so he'll probably finish on 78 games, 70 goals and no Brownlow votes. He played 2 finals and didn't kick a goal in either. Here're his career stats:

I always viewed the call to get these players in as romantic at best. Stewart (GWS / Dons), Weideman (Dees / Dons), Richards (WB)
Do I recall correctly James had a go at the Club for not drafting him / upsetting his HSC year?

The only one of those three that it upsets me not to see running around in the black & white is Richards. His Collingwood pedigree is immaculate. And he is a good, honest AFL footballer.

I was always confused as to why Collingwood didn’t draft Craig Kelly’s elder son who was drafted by Adelaide? (His name escapes my oncoming dementia mind)

Highlights always look tempting, after all, players selected have to offer some promise in the first place to get selected.

But apart from drip feeding their highlights video's, it's what they do for the team for the other 119 minutes.

Some players don't contribute what is expected over the whole course of a game.

Agree. Ed Richards would be one I'd like to have. But we currently have Noble and you're only allowed one redhead per club.

Weideman has been absolutely disappointing. He looked the part and has had one or two really good games, but is looking like he wont reach the level he was expected to.

Jake. I heard he was promised a spot in the rookie draft, but we redrafted Gault. Crows then took him. He's been ok without being a superstar. I thought he might have been a chance to come in when Madgen was out of contract. Bombers fans dont love him.
