Yep one of the many examples of us making a grand final without the required players to take home the silver.

Courage and determination can only take you so far most times.

1958 was the exception.

Hafey flogging players into the ground in the thursday night training session prior didn't exactly help their exhaustion factor.

You'd think he'd see a pattern forming by now?

The 1980 Tigers Premiers were the best side I ever saw.
They had strength, speed, skill, size and talent.
Strange that they went down hill after that.
Still I thought they showed the way forward for decades afterwards.
I still have nightmares of Kevin Barlett thrashing Stan the man magro.
The bastard kicked 7 goals that day.

INXS88, don't knock Russell Ohlsen. He was our best player in the 1979 Grand Final, even though Trevor Keogh knocked him out.

I remember being at this game. There used to be standing room behind the goals at the ponsford stand end. I stood there and had a great view of Bartlett running riot. Some Richmond supporter standing behind me kept yelling “sausage roll, sausage roll” every time they got a goal. Annoyed the crap out of me. I stayed until the siren sounded and walked out desponded. Bit like ‘03 in a way.
The game prior vs Geelong was a ripper of a game. It was at Waverley. I remember it was a great atmosphere which was harder to achieve at that ground. One of my all time favourite games.
Living in Geelong, barracking for the 'pies!

It could be argued that Geelong were a better match up for them in 1980, but the best two sides don't always get through to the GF.
Our boys were just cooked on the day from the September campaign; wasn't any lack of effort on their part.
That Bitchmond slide down the ladder in 1981 was totally unexpected; I remember Mick Taylor beating Mark Lee for tap outs at Vic Park during the season, Tigers were so flat and disinterested.
And we know that money divided their players post season in 1982, which started our unfortunate poaching war with them.
Kevin Bartlett was a shifty little turd, but one of the best front-and-square drop of the ball players we have ever seen.

Back in the days of a 12 team VFL comp, a final five finals series, no draft or salary cap bullshit, and life was just so less complicated back then.

Piethagoris Theorem, as I originally posted, I'm ranking Collingwood's 16 Grand Finals since 1958 - worst to best. These are my personal views with which you're welcome to disagree.

The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

A horror show. I was watching in a house of Richmond supporters. Moral of the story? Never watch a granny with oppo fans. Never ever. I was a kid without choice.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.
