The 6-6-6 conspiracy theory - give me a @#$%ing break!

Post by WhyPhilWhy? »

All this guff about Collingwood pulling a tactical masterstroke by deliberately breaking the 6-6-6 rule to get the throw up that was allegedly to Coxey's advantage late in the last quarter...

1) I can't seriously believe we would practice that as a deliberate play - it's too unlikely a scenario to plan for, with Coxey to be at such a plannable advantage against the opposition ruckman.

2) Who says McInerney is at a such a disadvantage in a throw up anyway?

3) If true, isn't it a huge coincidence that Brisbane would hand us the advantage again at the very next centre bounce? That seems to be overlooked by the theorists.

A far more likely scenario - exhausted players that couldn't get back in formation in time.

If I'm wrong and it was deliberate, somewhere we have a seriously masterful tactician.

Whateley said on his review with Kingy that he actually inquired with the club and that it was categorically NOT intentional…

That’s the key. Lions were warned shortly after the Collingwood warning, so they would hardly allow a repeat “ offence “ if it was such an advantage to Collingwood. On the Couch showed aerial footage of the centre bounce in question and it looked like Lipinski had just come back on after the goal but couldn’t get into the correct position at half forward in time.

I wouldn’t say it was deliberate but I do think Cox is better at the centre bounce ruck when it’s thrown up based on his domination early in the QF when they were throwing the ball up compared to the 2nd half when they started bouncing it.

Their opinions are written on toilet paper.

Is there any evidence that other teams have been doing this late in games, it might be an established tactic if so?
