Absolutely no one should be feeling grateful that the right, reasonable and fair decision was made. Glad perhaps that scumbags, halfwits and puerile sore losers like Goodwin didn't have their way, but not grateful that reasonable people behaved reasonably.
The case itself wasn't complex. The wider issues are complex, but the purposeful conflation of the two was malicious, not accidental, for all but the slowest drivers.

Nah, only people who know nothing about sport, footy in particular, or who hate Collingwood could really thin he was guilty, **** emMr Miyagi wrote:Maynard cleared but the vitriol and vilification continues. Herald Sun calls it an injustice and calls for AFL to appeal. Hate to say this, but I think this mud is going to stick to Bruz, and the club, for a long time.

As above, Greg Baum has probably summed it up a little more articulately as a professional journalist than we have as a group.
The AFL had to act for their own protection and that’s why they put this straight to the Tribunal. The AFL will have to suck this up. They won’t risk further embarrassment by appealing.
Let Footy now make the headlines, not legal/tribunal stuff.

For what it’s worth, Whateley (who’s copped a fair bit of flak in this thread, much of it unfairly I think) responded with a decisive "no" to that question on AFL 360. He reckons the tribunal’s verdict is thorough and compelling, and sees no room for the AFL to have cause for complaint.90 nice wrote:Do we think that the AFL will appeal they have till close of business tomorrow afternoon

I am going to make a point of listening to bit of SEN radio tomorrow, going by last night, be highly amusing listening to all the sore loser Deeeees fans ringing in, spewing, spitting bile. One woman last night was nigh on hysterical, ranted and raved, furious, oh it made my day, heaing their pissing and moaning.

Premiership Eagle Will Schofield, who said the AFL should appeal the tribunal’s call, wrote on X: “In the end, where you sit on this Maynard tribunal decision comes down to whether you like Collingwood or not. Let’s be honest.”
To which Bucks replied, “ or you can have some integrity.” Mic drop!!!
