Welcome to the big league Nick Daicos. Good players always attract heat more or less. Maybe Nick should forget about a shiny Brownlow Medal and distribute some payback, or perhaps some of his team mates should take responsibility for that distribution. Stand up and give it back to them without fail and the behaviour soon stops.

Nick has now joined the Jack Ginnivan crucified club, where umps turn a blind eye to any untoward actions you are dealt with by the Opposition. Danger mouse has been very quiet on this, the so called " Players Representative" hes as weak as water.

The quickest way to stop such behaviour is simple
Have Nick D manager come out publicly and state
If there is a continuation of players being deliberately targeted and sustaining injuries by illegal acts and acts contrary to the rules of the game we will be forced to explore legal avenues against the AFL and AFL employees (umpires) for failing in there duty of care to players.
It’s simple really it’s illegal
Watch the vision of the hawks players constantly pushing, blocking, targeting Nick all over the ground
He was held by the jumper on several occasions as well as being blocked to stop him using this speed to break away from contests
Personally I would start Maynard in the middle with Adams and tell them to just smash and crash every player around the contest looking to do as much physical damage as possible to opposition players
If it’s good for the goose it’s good for the gander

Surely you're joking QM67.
Footy is a physically demanding contact sport, which demands toughness by all players. Of course Nick Daicos has been attracting physical attention from opponents, especially taggers. That's part of the game. As I said earlier, my criticism is actually directed at our other midfielders for not regularly smashing his tagger out of the way. Maynard seems to be the only one who understands what is required, and he's not a midfielder. Adams, De Goey, Crisp and even Pendles need to step up and show some mongrel around the packs. Do that and our opponents will soon be 2nd guessing themselves and will begin taking their eyes off Nick.

It seems to me he hasn't considered a hurt tagger contacting Slater and Gordon...LaurieHolden wrote:Riggggght. Well balanced and thought through.qldmagpie67 wrote:The quickest way to stop such behaviour is simple

This is a general comment to those who suggest that tagging and what goes with it is okay. If a full forward were prevented from going for the ball he would receive a free kick for obstructing him. It happens all around the ground especially in ruck work. I ask the question why should an on ball player not receive the same protection. I have issues with tagging. Call it for what it is - deliberately obstructing the players right to go for the ball. Tagging is simply a means of preventing a good footballer from playing football.

In the contest if fair game hard as you can go at it
But when it’s off the ball and not in the contest and tactics used are against the rules and the umpires just turn a blind eye then something needs to be done
It wasn’t just this last game it’s been going on for several weeks
Nick is a rookie still who’s attracted loads of attention
His body isn’t developed or ready for this constant pounding of illegal tactics
Around every stoppage the focus as been in the man not the ball
Could you imagine if this was happening to Bont or Butters ? The media would be calling for a royal commission and for the umpires to provide personal security for each of them
Remember when Geelong whined about the way Greenwood tagged Selwood ?

That would explain his sudden falloff in form. But if so the coaching staff should almost be sacked for negligence. Boy hasn't it come back to bite us big time. What'sinaname wrote:Now it seems Nick might have picked up the injury against Port.
Our lack of managing players in game time has been a huge factor in the dropoff of several big name stars, Pendles included. McRae is learning on the job and this one will probably cost us a flag.

Oh please. If our players are as soft as some of our fans then we deserve to be exactly where we are. I wish we had a team as tough as Hawthorn and Carlton.Piesnchess wrote:Nick has now joined the Jack Ginnivan crucified club, where umps turn a blind eye to any untoward actions you are dealt with by the Opposition.
