Hearing they feel the MCL is at the mild end of the scope but they’re concerned he may have damaged PCL as well as he had pain in both inside and outside of the knee joint
Hence their quick decision to sub him out
Scans will tell full story but club think if PCL is structurally sound still he’s 3/4 weeks away if it isn’t then it’s off to a specialist to determine path back and time frame which could be anywhere from 6 weeks to 12 weeks depending

Just watching the replay, he was involved in at least 3 more contests after the initial injury, one in the North goal square where he to to jump and spoil.
He also took a semi-contested mark and kick...on his left foot though.
What all that means I don't know...just hoping it indicates PCL is ok?

Haven't seen anything... which, given QM's post, makes me a bit concerned. Extra PCL damage could be one reason for a delay in news.shawthing wrote:Any news about Sidey's scans yet?

Since there hasn’t been any scans the only info was the reports from medical staff
But since 2 days has passed it is some what concerning the club hasn’t come out and revealed the results yet
Either it’s worse than first thought or there’s been some delay in getting the scan or report
Hoping it’s the later

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away
Hmmm AFL website saying Steele out for minimum 6 weeks! Not sure where this 4 week thing came from...possibly 4 to 6? Maybe the club is playing smoke and mirrors?

Sidebottom Injury Update
Collingwood midfielder Steele Sidebottom will miss a number of weeks of the 2023 season due to a knee injury.
Scans revealed Sidebottom strained the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee during the early minutes of Collingwood’s Round 11 match against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium last night. The occasion was the 32-year-old’s 300th appearance in the black and white.
“We are all disappointed for Steele, especially given the occasion it was, who at this stage will miss around six to eight weeks of football,” Collingwood GM of Football Graham Wright said.
“In true Steele style, he got around his teammates and continued to enjoy the moment albeit being on the side-line.
“We expect and look forward to seeing Steele return to the senior side in the back half of the season.”

Injury Update: Round 12
The main injury to come from this weekend was to the milestone man, Steele Sidebottom. Steele was involved in an awkward collision during the early moments of his 300th game. Scans have shown he has unfortunately sustained a medial ligament sprain to his right knee. The expected return timeline for Sidebottom will be 6-8 weeks.
Young forward Reef McInnes hyperextended his knee during our VFL game on Sunday. In positive news for Reef, scans have shown no serious damage and he will work into training this week and be tested before selection for the upcoming round.
Billy Frampton goes from strength to strength in his rehabilitation program on his way back from an adductor injury. Provided Billy can get through training this week, we expect him to be available this weekend.
In exciting news, Patrick Lipinski and Dan McStay look set to return for our King's Birthday clash in Round 13. Lipinski will partake in full contact training over the next fortnight in a bid to be available for AFL selection. Meanwhile, McStay is also progressing along nicely with his finger injury. He'll start ball handling this week, in addition to the general speed and strength conditioning he's been working on during his rehabilitation process.
Small forward Joe Richards has increased the intensity of his training drills over the last week as he returns from a hamstring injury. He's joined into some modified drills and how he tolerates his work over the next week will determine wether or not he'll be available for Round 13 or after our bye.
Jeremy Howe has made some really promising progress as he continues to build his workloads. He's now involved in more football specific drills with the main group and continues to build his football specific training. At this stage we expect Jeremy to be available sometime shortly after the bye.
Charlie Dean is continuing to build his strength work as we look to build him up to a point where he runs next week.
