The update 6 days ago was:
"The road to recovery is almost over for Darcy Cameron as he looks to make his return from an MCL injury. Cameron completed a strong training block last week of high-level functional gym work. This week is about putting this work into an on-field environment which should set him up to be available for Round 10" - CFC website

Nathan Kreuger (Shoulder) sustained a contact injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s VFL clash against GWS, and subsequently did not play any further part in the match as a precaution. Scans have confirmed Kreuger’s shoulder joint is stable, and he will be tested at training on Friday.
Darcy Cameron (Knee) is expected to be available for selection providing he completes the main training session on Friday.
Dan McStay (Finger) is continuing to build his conditioning loads and at this stage is tracking well to be available for selection between Rounds 13-15.
Utility Billy Frampton (Groin) has commenced straight line running and gym-based loading. It is expected that Frampton will be available for selection between Rounds 12-13.
Dashing midfielder Patrick Lipinski (Shoulder) continues to build his contact loads in preparation to join main training. Lipinski remains on track to be available for selection between Rounds 13-15.
Joe Richards (Hamstring) experienced a setback in training on Friday with an updated timeline to be determined in due course.
Jeremy Howe (Arm) continues to make positive steps, participating in light skills training. He is currently working with a hand specialist while completing his running program. It is expected that Howe will return to contact training sooner than anticipated but a timeframe on when he will return is unconfirmed.
Charlie Dean (Foot), who has been ruled out for the season, is currently working on biomechanical and strength markers as he prepares to re-commence running.

Is it just me or do Pies players ALWAYS end up being out the maximum….players from several clubs this year have reportedly had serious injuries only to be back within a couple of weeks.
Not a knock on our med/rehab team but you can nearly always add a couple of extra weeks on whatever is speculated when a Collingwood player is concerned.
I recall Selwood once literally losing an arm only to play the following week (against us of course). McStay out for months because of a finger??? I remember the days when these type of injuries were remedied with tape and tab. Anyway….

In McStays case, a damaged finger has so many different outcomes.
You can break a finger cleanly and occasionally be back in a fortnight or you can have tendon surgery ( as was the case with McStay ) and the earliest you can be back is six weeks. If the tendon was fully detached, then it’s closer to 2 months recovery. Fractured Fingers generally heal well and without issue but anything related to tendons is much more complex and requires conservative rehabbing.
I remember last year when Pittonet and Grundy both did their knee in the same week and with the same injury. Pittonet came back much sooner, only to be out again for an extended period two weeks later with a repeat of the same. Just because your sports science team don’t get you back as quick as others, doesn’t automatically mean they’re not as good.
We also need to remember the sports scientists don’t perform the surgery, they just rehab it. If the surgery isn’t performed properly in the first place, then there is no hope of any sports science team getting the rehab right. Unfortunately sports injuries will never be an exact science.

Again, just to be clear not a criticising of our rehab team, medicos or protocols and processes, just as a fan frustrated by not being able to see our best on the park for longer and sooner.

^ Finger tendon injuries can be really bad, I remember Mathew Lloyd did one late in his career tacking a player where his finger got caught in the jumper and the tendon injury was so bad he missed almost a whole season.
Anyway I still say this injury update service by the club now, is light years better then what the club was doing when Gubby Allen was in charge circa.... 2012 to 2018ish ...remember players would be listed as 5 weeks...and the weeks just wouldn't change ...get to about what should have been 1 week out and suddenly the status would change to 'due back in 9 weeks'.
They were the worst times...
