He's a dickhead....but he's our dickhead. The punishment is reasonable, so hopefully he'll learn from it, knowing that our club provides a great supportive environment.

I guess the only person happy about this is Jordan De Goey. 8)

Definitely Bobby Hill from what you read from all the preseason training reports.Ginnivan might find it hard to get back into the team if Hill does well in the first couple of of games.
We needed competition in his position. His last half of 2022 was well below his first half. After Rd 17, he got 10+ possessions just twice compared to 9 games with less than 10.

He’s position is not the only one we have compensated for in our recruiting

They exist in the back 6 (Frampton)
And the mid (Mitchell)
And maybe not right away but in the ruck

If we have another good 2023 recruiting effort we have come ahead with Wright
I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right

So some gutter snipe filmed it, sold it to 7 News and they made it public. There are a hundred or more players from other clubs breathing a sigh of relief tonight they don’t play for Collingwood and don’t have to worry about getting exposed like this. 100% Ginni’s responsibility but geez there are some dogs out in public and at 7.

This is a first strike and should not have been made public. Club partly behind it, given Ginni’s statement about it? Video was sold to 7 News who made it public.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb
When will they ever learn ?
I’m so over these entitled brats thinking rules don’t apply to them because they play sport
Years ago there was a young player at the Brisbane broncos who had a similar incident the club decided enough was enough so they suspended him for 8 weeks no wages
Sent him off to be a builders offsider for that period and said to him
This is how you’ll make your living when your sacked for stupidity the way your going
Kid pulled his head in went on to have a distinguished career
Send Ginny out to the real world working a 10 hours day for wages for a month and see how he likes it
The guys doing this every week use there hard earned wages to buy memberships and merchandise that supports these tossers

Yeah I wouldn’t use a building site as a monastery of good behaviour. There’s a reason I’m more wary of tradie utes and vans when I’m cycling in the morning and arvo

Shortly after Richmond won the Grand Final in 2017, I was speaking with a former Richmond premiership player. I asked how Richmond had improved to win the flag in 2017, after being perennially just outside the 8. Who remembers "Ninethmond"? He said that the first thing they did was to get rid of the dickhead factor.

I'm not saying that we should get rid of Ginnivan, but he is a dickhead. I'm not persuaded nor impressed by his "I've let everyone down" "confession". This well-crafted public-relations speech of contrition was rather pathetic. Why did he take the white powder in the first place? He clearly knew it was wrong, but he did it anyway. But he had the misfortune to get caught. Hence the "I'm so sorry" plea.

This reminds me of Jaiden Stephenson. Remember him? Pick 6 in the draft. Won the rising star. On his way to becoming a terrific player. Got caught gambling. And then?

In my opinion Ginnivan's penalty is quite light. Some people will excuse him. He's a 20 year old kid, blah blah blah. Sorry, if you want to be an AFL footballer you have to give those sort of things up. Otherwise see if North Melbourne will take you.

Magpietothemax wrote:He has been banned from the practice games and for the first two rounds. Add to that the public humiliation and opprobium he is currently suffering, that is more than enough to deter him from making the same mistake.
This setback will challenge him: it will also test out his mettle. Let's see what this young kid is made of. If he rebounds, he will be even better than last year.

Yep, my thoughts too, its not a hanging offence for Chrissakes, let him serve his penalty and train the house down while he does. Then come back in round three , with re renewed determination. 8)

Talk about a set up why come out now and publish and sell the footage to channel 7
There are @.@@bags that prey on people like footballers in particular they hunt them down as well
Why take a photo of someone in a toilet anyway
Ginny should have known better but feel that he was set up and like was preyed upon
Ginny mate learn from it cop the punishment
Come back an even better footy player and let your footy do the talking
Time Collingwood comes together and focus on the upcoming season
Time for distractions are well over as well

Of course, Ginnivan is the only player in the entire AFL who has taken an "illicit substance" during the offseason.

Get real, folks. Collingwood is being $@&^# over, as usual.

He went goalless 3 times in the last 11 games. Only once in the first 12. He averages 0.32 goal assists per game, the lowest of all of our forwards. By pretty much every measure, his performance tailed away.

The small forward race is wide open and right now, it's advantage Hill.
