It's a great story.
Yeah
I wonder if he still has Joe Bidens phone number.
Remember he was put next to him at a footy match when he was vice president under Obama.
Biden said he had a great time with Mason.

Ok game today.
But he did 3 taps in a row straight down a pie midfielder throat that really impressed me.
Also.....he was being held constantly even before the ball was kicked to him.
Shocking that GWS got away with it all game

Truly cannot understand why Collingwood are not complaining via AFL back channels re this. It’s glaring.

GWS were getting away with holding on Pendies and Adams too, it was atrocious. But yeah, how can they miss illegal holds in a bloke who’s 7 feet tall?

I’ve always felt it’s a subconscious umpire equalisation method.

It’s like because he’s 7 feet tall he’s got too much of an advantage already so they won’t pay frees that other players would get.

Same with Trav, because he was such a good contested mark and would often win the wrestle, they ignored any illegal holds.

The frustrating thing is every team has worked it out, 1 bloke holds Cox and another goes for the ball and yet it’s constantly ignored. It’s only late in games they’re too tired to get ahold of him he breaks free.

Same very conscious bias umpires hold towards Ginnivan, they refuse to see any blatant free kicks because he is deemed a ducker.

Apologies to Mason Cox

Post by RudeBoy »

Since Grundy went down injured and we were forced to turn to Cox, I reckon he's played the most consistently good football of his career. He hasn't always been great or even very good, but he has been a valuable contributor week in week out. For that, I owe the big fella an apology. After a terrible game from him earlier in the year (against Brisbane perhaps?) I gave up on him and never wanted to see him play for us again. I labelled the "US experiment" a complete and utter failure - apart from his 2018 Prelim performance.

I was wrong. It seems that Cox has revelled in being an actual ruckman, rather than a lumbering key forward. Who'd have thought a 7 ft tall player would make a good ruckman? No doubt, getting his eyesight sorted out helped him, but I also think he deserves the credit for persevering and improving himself as a player, knowing the team was relying in him in its hour of need.
