I just watch the highlights. He was about 55m out when he kicked the ball and Mihocek marked it 25m from goal.slangman wrote:That 55m kick to Mihocek had plenty of depth. What'sinaname wrote:Looked good and got better throughout the game. The only surprise was the lack of depth in his kicks. Is that just him?

Yesss - was just about to post the same thing. Will need to inspect that one in the replay. Would have been some goal.Magpietothemax wrote:I thought it was a fine debut. And I reckon that he was robbed of a goal. That shot of his looked like it was over the line when the North defender got to it.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

Regardless, it shows his football smarts. And that's a great sign.piffdog wrote:Yesss - was just about to post the same thing. Will need to inspect that one in the replay. Not expecting too much from him this year, but 2023.....

He kicked it across the arc, not straight to Checkers. It was a perfectly weighted kick and Checkers was able to run onto it.slangman wrote:I watched relay and that kick imho went at least 45m.What'sinaname wrote:The maths would say it's not a 30m kick, but it's closer to 30m than 55m
Either way, I thought that his kicks were standard AFL level for penetration.
Get back on top.

Good performance by a first gamer.
The kick to Checkers in the 3rd was excellent. One of the highlights of the day.

I watched it again and, on the slow-mo replay, it did look like the North defender touched it right on the line. A pity as it was an incredible attempt by Carmichael. At the ground, I was frustrated with Mihocek for trying to shepherd it through and not getting a boot to it himself, but watching the broadcast I can understand a little better why he did it!
