You can’t “ force “ a trade situation because the whole idea of free agency is to put the power in the players hands so as to afford him the opportunity to maximise his earning potential during a relatively small employment window. This premise applies to both restricted F As and unrestricted F As.dalyc wrote:Fwiw, I think we’ve lost him. I think he believes he’s been poorly served by the leadership group and the Club.
Because he’s a restricted FA, I think we can force trade situation rather than accept the compensation.
Theres no point to the club seeking a trade because the return on the trade would be less than the compo pick. That’s simply because there is no need for any new suitor to facilitate a trade when Degoeys a free agent in the first place. Why give something away when they don’t have to. His destination club would just place the highest bid, Collingwood don’t or can’t match it and DeGoey accepts the terms of his new club. The AFL then determine our compo pick, likely between 9 - 13ish ( that’s based on probable ladder position and size of contract )
It does sound simple when you say it quickly. We also need to remember, should Collingwood bring a free agent into the club, then we automatically forfeit our DeGoey compo pick.burnsy17 wrote:Pick 9 - 13?
Where do we sign??!!!
Our pick 10ish or wherever we finish
AFL’s pick 9ish for the compo for DeGoey
Adelaides pick 6ish for Grundy.
Rebuild sorted. And the team isn’t THAT compromised considering what we have achieved without Grundy and DeGoey.
Do it.
The other consideration we can’t lose sight of whenever people talk about trading Grundy, is that he is obviously under contract. As long as contracts remain in the AFL, it will forever take three different party’s to ALL totally agree before any player goes anywhere ( and I know you get this but I’m convinced some don’t ) All of Grundy, the parent club and the destination club all have to be well and truly in total agreement before Grundy would be swapping clubs. I’m not convinced that will be happening anytime soon.

Scharenberg and Freeman went at 6 and 10 (and with those picks went our 2018 flag). It’s a lottery.burnsy17 wrote:Pick 9 - 13?

I don’t think it sounds good! I want Grundy back, I want to see how he goes with the much improved Cox and Darcy. And I want DeGoey back too, with a new attitude. A club first I am worth it attitude. I haven’t given up on him.
Nothing beats a good stick it up em attitude.

We lost to West Coast and barely beat GWS without DeGoey...burnsy17 wrote:Pick 9 - 13?

The most luxurious problem a club has ever had, surely: https://magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.p ... 26#2102926burnsy17 wrote:The reason Cameron has improved is because there’s been no Grundy!
When Grundy is back, he’ll take first ruck and Cameron goes back to FF….
That’s the problem.
Cameron is only any good as a first ruck.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Exactly. We haven't, in fact, achieved anything whatsoever without him. And the team will clearly be poorer for his absence.eddiesmith wrote:We lost to West Coast and barely beat GWS without DeGoey...burnsy17 wrote:And the team isn’t THAT compromised considering what we have achieved without Grundy and DeGoey.
