^It goes even further than that. The club actually is under the spotlight here for submitting a person with a disability known to be associated with rejection sensitivity, depression and anxiety, and a far greater risk of suicide than the average person, who has done nothing wrong under any known law, to sustained public humiliation.
A statement under medical consultation may have been doable, but no medical specialist on the planet would support doing that to someone with this condition.
Aside from additional things behind closed doors to which we're not privy, the anger on Jordy's part presumably enters the equation through the humiliation, especially for people with rejection sensitivity dysmorphia, and decades of bullying and insult, which we know is widely reported for people with ADHD, and even more so for adults with undiagnosed ADHD who have internalised that bullying for years.
This sort of harassment of someone with a disability is not only illegal under workplace law, it is shockingly medically unethical. Furthermore, it has further exposed that vulnerable disabled person to further public harassment and humiliation, rather than protected them under the expectations of a duty of care.
Whatever one might think of Jordy, no organisation in its right mind knowing someone has a disability, and especially a disability marked by those vulnerabilities, does that to someone. I'm flabbergasted, because they knew about the diagnosis. How is it even possible to get it so wrong medically, ethically, legally, and managerially?

In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

I just wonder if you have a boundary of where your outrage on behalf of others ends.
It seems as thought that young womans lack of outrage bothers you?
Don’t make someone else’s story your own just so as to make you feel better about yourself.
Be better!!

It actually wouldn't change anything I wrote. Driving offenses being used publicly to hang players, when literally 95% of the population has had one, is unfair on the players. There's no equity with the rest of the population.Pies2016 wrote:You’re very fortunate not to have lost two family members ( in my case both parents ) to a speeding driver because if you had, that wouldn’t be your opening comment. I can only suggest you remain eternally thankful for your good fortune because the same law breakers you’re looking to excuse have the potential to turn your entire world upside down in an instant. Its happening every day, so I hope you will understand if I don’t show the empathy for DeGoey you feel he deserves.Big T wrote:Any parking or littering violations you lot wanna drag up, or maybe he was done by the hall monitor for farting in grade 3?
We get it, he has a history. You see the crimes as far more serious than we do.
You know what, I don't want perfect citizens at collingwood, and that is certainly not the history of our club..
The Bali trip on its own, I could care little but let’s be honest, his “ annual antics “ go way beyond a night out on the town in Bali.
Buon Giorno
PTID, Thank you for both responses. As they say “ time heals all wounds “
Right throughout this thread, I have felt as long as posters continue to focus on the ( im ) moral aspect of his Bali trip, then moral judgement will always remain in the eye of the beholder. The law of course is much more black and white and this is where the recklessness of DeGoeys actions should be more easily established. To be fair, there are plenty of people without ADHD who show bad judgement on a regular basis, so we shouldn’t be surprised by poor decisions from those who are diagnosed with the illness. My major concern will always be for those who do have ADHD but potentially will struggle to comply with the same rules broader community must abide. At what point, should we as a law abiding society, have a realistic expectation for ADHD suffers to also live by those same rules without an asterisk beside their names ( rhetoric )
Your contributions on this subject have been massive, so I’m not looking for more input from you ( or you will miss the game today

Then don’t become an AFL footballer and dine out on all the other benefits that come with it. I would also think 95% of us would love to be an AFL footballer.Big T wrote:It actually wouldn't change anything I wrote. Money, fame, women, public adulation. You can have it all, as long as you don’t break the law. Doesn’t sound like a big ask to me.

Again it’s not about her, I’m a woman my children are women, it’s about us and other women who have a little self respect, I’ve also said Bali was not that big a deal, it’s the sun of it.slangman wrote:The narcissism of taking offence by proxy!!think positive wrote:/\ im flabbergasted too, by that whole post!!

Firstly if the club had any sense they would provide advice in and around his management, to have your brother in law as manager is so ‘80’s, he needs stability, I’m not certain his brother in law provides the experience and stability de goey needs, an independent manager who had de goeys best interest at the forefront is what’s required.
Secondly have no idea where the video came from re Bali, choose your mates better Jordan!
Thirdly not what I would want from my daughter, the girl involved didn’t have a problem with what happened.
I don’t think de goey is going to change and to keep flogging him for behaviour issues when he doesn’t have the support to succeed, will just force Ill will between him and the club…loads clubs will line up for him … take the picks and move on!

And yes I’m on the way, my sister got us dining tickets in the AFL members. My daughter is in cairns so I’ve got her and my hubby, thankfully I still have my seat near the cheer squad if they piss me off!
Cheers

I also have daughters, sisters, nieces and a mother. In this situation their position in the matter would take precedence over mine.think positive wrote:Again it’s not about her, I’m a woman my children are women, it’s about us and other women who have a little self respect, I’ve also said Bali was not that big a deal, it’s the sun of it.slangman wrote:The narcissism of taking offence by proxy!!think positive wrote:/\ im flabbergasted too, by that whole post!!

Control your situations without feeling the need to control others. The woman involved has stated that she didn’t have an issue with any of what transpired.
You making it into anything else is your attempt at hijacking the story for you own benefit and narrative.
Get your own story and stop taking someone else’s for your own personal moral crusade.

No, certainly not on the 'tramps' behalf, all other women...who meet a certain moral standardthink positive wrote:slangman wrote: Being in uproar on someone else’s behalf over something that they don’t have an issue with is nothing more than virtue signalling.

Yes, quite - the parallel between the gendered nature of witch trials and ... well, I've leave that to you to complete.
By the way, those "front row seats" you mention would have been pretty cheap - no executions were carried out by burning as a consequence of the Salem trials. My recollection is that they were all hanged, save for Giles Corey, who was pressed between heavy stones for a couple of days (perhaps because they had run out of rope?).
