Whatever can be said of Mason Cox and his strange and unique journey from Texas to the Collingwood Football Club, one fact is clear: That he has reserved his premium form for the occasions that match his size.
The coach had a plan for Cox, and it was predicated on spending time in the VFL, where the 211-centimetre Texan was played in the ruck, rather than in the goal square. McRae said after Cox’s Queen’s Birthday performance - his best as a ruck - that Cox was a better “ruck-forward” than forward-ruck.
A seven-foot footballer being played in the ruck - who would have thought?
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
Hi kids do you like Mason? Wanna see McGovern poke his fingers through his eye-lid? Wanna stop the tuggers winning a three peat? Clayton Oliver's mo does more drugs than Bailey Smith does!
That's 2 massive performances in QB clashes against the toffs. Mason Cox deserved the medal today for his 3rd quarter alone. Everyone knows the real winner, even the dribblesnot cucumber sandwich munching bankers with a W that did the voting!

It's extraordinary that Mason can still get out on the park and even more amazing that he actually wants to, considering what he went through with his eye injuries and his difficulties in getting a consistent run at it in the seniors.
It was just so gratifying to see him play at his best.
His parents are in town and he seems to grow in confidence when they are around to watch and support him.
Yes, his courage to go on playing at all is extraordinary. Doing a knee is one thing. Losing your sight another level entirely. Understanding the trial he went through makes it all the sweeter that he tore it up today.
Josh Gabelich voted Clayton Oliver. I’m pretty sure it was him who was heard during the commentary sneering at a dropped mark by Cox as “pitiful.” Never heard of Joshy until today.
