VFLW back after the Easter break.

Round 9 vs Bombers
Saturday 23 April @ 1.30pm. Venue The Hangar 275 Melrose Dr, Melbourne Airport

Ladder: Bombers 2nd 426%, Pies 7th 92%

This is going to be a tough game.
Bombers have put a good team together and have kicked some big scores this season. Pies form has been inconsistent and they will have to be at their best (and kick straight) to get close.

Tough day at the office, Pies were smashed in every area/stat apart from hitouts.

Bombers 14.10.94 def Pies 3.3.21.

Matilda Zander the only real standout for the Pies.

Georgia Nanscawen (Bombers) leading disposal winner. She would be leading the league B&F voting at this stage.

Loss also put a big dent in the Pies %.
Still can make the finals but they will need to find some form quick.
Even if the Pies make the top six it looks like the top 3 - Demons, Bombers & Hawks - are the teams who could play for the premiership, miles ahead of the rest.

Definitely Presti.

No Imogen Barnett (leading goalkicker).
Maddy Shevlin & Jasmine Ferguson no longer at the club.

Last year also had AFLW listed players rotating thru the squad including Mikayla Cann, Chloe Molloy, Jo Lin.

Amelia Velardo & Imogen Purcell were regulars in the team, neither have played this year.

Last year there were a lot more AFLW standard players. This year the team has had changes each week and quite a few, although they give their all, are only suburban footballers, skill level is pretty low.

I assume the club has decided not to play many AFLW players in anticipation of next season starting in August. Need to give them a break. Also gives the club the opportunity to have a look at potential signings for next season.
