#2 Jordan De Goey
Moderator: bbmods
^ Since 2018, De Goey has only managed a couple of good games a season. He had one last week - well, a half a good game, anyway. He isn't really due to turn up and perform according to his circadian rhythms until about round 12.
Cox wasn't bad - he did what he mostly does: a couple of goals, a few disposals, a bit of a chop out in the ruck. He dropped a few marks that he should have taken but that's not too surprising. 2.1, a goal assist, 12 disposals, 4 marks and 11 hitouts. In fact, most of his stats last night are above his career averages (9 disposals, 1 goal, 4 marks, 7 hitouts etc).
Mihocek is asked to do too much. As a marking target in the forward line, he makes a fine halfback flanker. He's a wonderful trier and has a heart the size of the Holden Centre but he really doesn't have the talent to play in the spot they make him hold down.
Of the three, De Goey is the one that consistently lets the team down - because he is the one who could be a Rolls Royce, if he worked a bit harder.

YEH TRUE, and we missed Jamie real badly, damn it he was nearly back to his best, had he played , we win. Why is it we only really get injuries to stars, not average types like WHE, if he got injured we can cover him pretty well, but not Elliott, hes a game changer.

I agree but they mean De Goey not buxMagpietothemax wrote:I am sorry to say this, but if his mental wellbeing is influencing how he is coaching, he should not be coaching. However, Nothing has been said so do we really need to pull that card out of the deck? Has his defensive side ever been good? Judging by that article I’m not the only one who thinks he ball watches.

Totally agree, reminds me of Shane Warne, brilliant but could have been out of the stratospherePies4shaw wrote:^ Since 2018, De Goey has only managed a couple of good games a season. If that were the case he would never break down, he would just fail to proceed.Pies4shaw wrote:^ Since 2018, De Goey has only managed a couple of good games a season. The spare's opponent (not really his opponent) was up on the wing. Brissy did away with a wing. (That led to some easy clearances for Collingwood.)Mr Miyagi wrote:That’s a mystery not even Scooby Doo could crack.piedys wrote:If so, what was said "spare player"'s immediate Collingwood opponent doing?Mr Miyagi wrote:Moore’s sliding under the radar and deserves a bit, he had a shocker after drinking his own kool-aid after the Carlton win. Brisbane worked him out though and played defensively on him with a spare player.

I'll just keep eating the Scooby snacks and drinking all the Kool-aid...
And we would have gotten away with it; if it wasn't for those meddling maggots

Yes De Goey's second efforts and defensive pressure have been poor for a long time now. I was hoping that with a solid preseason (which apparently he has had) that this may see something different from him this year. Sadly it is looking like the same pattern.
On the other side of the coin I believe he had his opponent clearly beaten on a lead a number of times last Thursday night but we failed to kick it to him. We kick it to him twice or even once more the other night and suddenly he is the difference between the two sides.
It's ironical how footy works sometimes.

One of our very few genuinely elite players, without him we'd be a wooden spoon contender.
The problem is because the coach has refused to recruit a key forward we need him in the midfield and up forward all game, every game. When he goes forward he's a beast but we don't have the midfield to make the most of it. When he goes into the middle, he's got no one to kick to.
If we got Petracca it would solve the problem, but instead we blew our cap on a ruckman who luckily for the stat lovers can get 40-50 hitouts every week, shame they don't equate to Collingwood clearances...

LOL
How is Petracca going to solve the problem eddiesmith? I would really like to pick your football brain here now! Please explain why you would spend 1 million on Petracca and why he would 'solve the problem'
Is it Clearences?
Petracca has 13 clearences this season
Adams has 26 (13 in rd2)
Is it Goals?
Petracca has 3 goals this season
your man Sidebottom has 2 from 1 less game
Is it tackles?
Hmmmm yet to break to 100 mark in a season. No where near that either.
Is it Disposals?
Petracca had 29
Grundy had 28
Yet you would throw a million at him?
LOL
