The only reason he’s doing it is because it’ll actually make him more money! Don’t you all see this??

Next season is his last contracted year, yes? Say he’s on 500k. Shit year, and he’s delisted. Probably career over.

Instead, he extends his contract and he takes a hit in 2021, say he accepts 350k in 2021 instead of the original 500k, and then collects a further 350k in 2022.

500k vs 700k plus job security for an additional year.

The club relieves itself of 150k in 2021 when the cap is tight and takes the 350k hit in 2022 and he remains on the list for an additional season.

No brainer to me!!

^ there is a counter argument.

He is paid $500k next year, and kicks 50 goals allowing him to negotiate a $700K a year contract for three years.

So he could have $1.2 million instead of $700k.

Kick 50 goals?

I’d be staggered if he get 50 kicks in a season, let alone goals!

Again your being silly, you said you’d be staggered if he got 50 kicks in a season, why don’t checkout the season he played more than 18 games as opposed the this year when played 11

How many games did he play, Einstein? In a super defensive season with shorter quarters on smaller grounds than the MCG. With a Collingwood midfield that continually bombed it long or took forever to kick it forward.

He’s played over 15 games in a season ONCE in his 5 seasons at Collingwood....

But let’s use that one OUTLIER season to predict his future output

I'm with Burnsy on this one, I suspect the deal benefits both parties, I don't think Mason is making a big sacrifice
