Yeah, it was different when he was a rookie. Now that $550k is under the salary cap and Nicksters in other threads wonder why we can't land big fish.

If Cox is traded what are our rucks??
Grundy .....yes
Cameron......doesn't look AFL standard to me
Lynch..... Hasn't played a game.
Need to keep him just as a spare ruckman.
And yes ...he is a handy forward.
Maybe put Moore into the ruck....at least he can jump.

$1.6 million per year is a lot of money to spend on two ruckmen.

If only our club could stop its out-of-control player salary inflation.

^ The club clearly sees Cox as a forward. It's quite possible that Cox's current salary was included in the calculations for the amount we offered Lynch.

If Lynch had accepted we could have then traded Cox out to free up that money, as Cox would no longer be required as a key forward.

All speculation on my part, but the fact is we are both unaware of the ins and outs of the clubs salary cap machinations. It's a complicated business that is played out over multiple years. Without knowing the full story I don't think you can criticize the club.

Well, the club would probably not offer that much now, but the Brisbane offer pushed his price up.

The club sees him as a forward because we have a $1 million ruckman. If we had a $1 million key forward instead, maybe the club would see him as a ruckman.

Gotta say, it's easier to play ruck than forward if you're foreign to the game.

Has triggered his games clause to get another contract. What’s he played like 6 games......why even bother with a clause. Can’t believe his on $550k a year.

We have a $100 million ruckman - we only pay $1 million for him.

Great news, i really like the lanky Yank, soon to be an aussie, he does worry Oppsition backs, if its dry track, no doubt of that, and he can ruck too.
