This is really a savage blow, I am truly devastated by this news. Mason is simply irreplaceable. And completely unhinges our forward structure. I can't see how we can win a Premiership without him and Grundy together, unfortunately. That is just one too many rivers to cross.
It would require us, over the next 4 weeks, to conjure up a brand new attacking structure, something we have proven thus far incapable of doing. They say that necessity is the mother of invention.
As we speak cruel time is fleeing.
Seize the day, Pies, believing as little as possible in the morrow.

Goldsack for mine too; he's chopped out in the ruck before IIRC.David wrote:Sounds like Lynch or Goldsack it is. I'd be happy to see either next week, but sentimentality leans towards Goldsack.
See what the selection numpties come up with this week; they are probably as we speak contemplating re-listing Blair to play that role....

He's had surgery for a torn retina and isn't allowed to do any physical activity for 3 months.WalZ_PieZ wrote:THIS!!!!Mr Miyagi wrote:Can Cox wear goggles?
if it's good enough for Kareem Abdul Jabbar it's good enough for Mason Cox
I don't think goggles will help.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
J. Niall:
"Arguably, the greater consequence of losing Cox will be in the forward line and, in particular, the Magpies finding a way to kick the ball ‘‘down the line’’ and bring it to ground, stopping the opposition from intercept marking.
While Cox has not been in stellar form this year, he has provided a reliable tall target and allowed Collingwood to kick down the line when they can’t find an open player.
... Brody Mihocek, at 192 centimetres, provides a reliable contest, but has not been a down-the-line target and there is no other player taller than 190 centimetres in the Collingwood attack."

BazBoy, I've been arguing with the AFL to allow players to have emotional support animals on the ground.
Cox is a huge loss, regardless of how many goals he is or isn't kicking. Like Niall said, just bringing the ball to ground is value, and he takes quality beckman away from our forwards who do kick goals.

Mr M the thing that Mason brings is the “awkward factor”. Allot a single defender at 195 cm and you’d find that in a marking contest if said defender doesn’t revert to arm chop / blocking etc Cox will mark or maybe draw the free if defender does infringe
So then they gang defend on him (2 or possibly 3) which if Cox gets his hand to Sherrin to ground it we are if our players are smart can get it seeing Cox has taken at least two away from ground play
This doesn’t work for 120 minutes of footy but only sporadic

I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right
