A quick and dirty reminder of how the club reacted last time .

The road toll in Vic this year is this way higher than at same time last year and it's been attributed to more people texting etc while driving. I've also heard some road traffic safety spokespeople saying research is showing that use of phones while driving is more dangerous than driving pissed.
So don't expect the club, or the law, to go easy on him. Particularly after his DUI conviction, when he was put on notice to improve off-field behavior, and after the story Goldsack wrote for the Sunday Herald-Sun a few weeks ago about De Goey. It was headlined: "I've Learned From my Mistakes". Includes some gems of quotes from JD, such as: "It's not the end of the world when things go wrong in your life", and how he's only ever learned by stuffing up. Here's a link to it via Goldsack's Twitter page: https://twitter.com/TLGold6 (look now before Goldie takes it down in embarrassment).

In the past we’ve had to punish players for speeding because we were sponsored by the TAC, but as I do t think we are anymore then what’s the problem?
A mobile phone offence is a simple traffic offence, he’ll cop the points and fine and we should move on. If the club punishes him then they’ll just show why this club will never succeed. Did Buddy get punished when he crashed into a heap of parked cars?

I see that ad on TV with the bearded ranga saying that a quick glance at your phone while driving is like driving for 5-6 seconds with hands over your eyes, and I want to throw something at the TV.
If that's true, young people these days must be incredibly stupid. Back in the day, to change the radio station in the car you had to look down at the radio and turn the dial till you got the right one, or put in/take out a cassette tape. You learned how to switch your eyes quickly between the road and other things.
Give him a slap over the wrist, release a statement saying sorry, it was dumb, it's dangerous and people shouldn't do it blah blah and move on.

This is a matter for the LAW NOT THE BLOODY CLUB, let the law deal with him, fine him heavy, suspend licence, but that's it. Getting a bit over these witchhunts re our guys, give it a rest, hey.
Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.
