Had chips and gravy for lunch today, with chicken ribs on the side. I haven't eaten chips in yonks
So tonights dinner is a couple of leftover lamb cutlets from the fridge, some sliced radish to do the job of crackers, celery sticks and some cheeses. Brie, a softish american cheese impregnated with bits of ghost pepper and a cheddar.

Making a Mexican street corn pasta salad for dinner and the next few days.
Basically, some cooked and rinsed bow tie pasta
8 slices of streaky bacon cooked just crisp in some butter and olive oil, then chopped
1 tin of corn kernals, browned in the bacon fat
1 Jalapeno, diced
1 tin of mixed beans, drained and rinsed
4 spring onions chopped, green bits too
Decent chunk of crumbly feta (or the mexican equivilent if you can get it)
Fresh Coriander coarsley chopped
Mix all together with a chili and lime dressing, chill and enjoy.

Sounds great tooSkids wrote:I got a nice free range chook (Mt Barker about 2.2kg) stuffed it with; spinach, garlic and pine nuts. Put that in the Webber with some; spuds, pumpkin and onions.
Add some peas 'n corn, gravy with the chicken juice mixed in, was sensational.

Good stuff. I've been going on salad for weeks, which I like, but after a while I want veges.
so tonight, pan fried lamb loin chops, mashed spuds, corn on the cob, and steamed broccoli, carrots, peas and zucchini. Bit of mint sauce and hot English mustard on the side, waiting for he arse to fall out of the sky while we eat.

I could probably give that a go, I don't mind black beans.
On Sunday I did a 2.5kg roast lamb leg for just the old girl and me, no kids this weekend. Did extra veges so had leftovers for dinner last night and lunch at work today. (yesterdays lunch was friday nights leftover fettucine alfredo )
Did the roast with spuds and steamed beans, carrot, broccoli and silver beet. Plus gravy.
Had a lamb and pickle sandwich for breakie this morning, yum.

The one thing I can't find over here is mustard pickles or green tomato pickles. I can get an english picallilly but it is very sweet. Cold lamb is impossible to get unless you cook it yourself and a small leg of lamb costs around 50 dollars. With the current carnage of the beef cattle in the North of Australia I can see Aussie beef going the same way.
