Having suffered a similar pars defect injury (requiring surgery), a lot of people never make it back to playing sport. Elliott's specialist described his condition as one of the worst he had seen. Elliott's chronic hamstring issues are directly related to his back condition. One of the more common consequences of a pars defect is constant hamstring tightness. The difficulty is you can feel crap for a long time and aggravate your back and hamstrings by minimal activity, then wake up one day feeling great and be able to do things for weeks without any problems, then wake up with symptoms again. I hope he can make it back. however I feel it is more in hope than based on anything I have seen recently.
Yeah, you're right. He's only had McGovern to deal with recently who is overweight, injured, and can't do much. What'sinaname wrote:Honestly can't see him fitting into our forward line structure.
I guess its a good signing if Mihochek has a bad case of second year blues.....a la Jack Anthony and Chris Dawes who really struggled when opposition coaches started putting a good beckman on them.

Agreed. Let's hope overcomes his injuries. Great player in his prime.Tannin wrote:Keep the faith. When fit, Billy is the best player in the team. Yes, better than Pendlebury (2019 version), better than de Gun, better than anyone. Well, except maybe Sidey and Grundy. But only maybe.
I think people have forgotten just how good he is. He's young enough to be absolutely worth sticking with. If he ever does come good again, he will make a formidable forward line downright invincible.
Absolutely worth a punt.

McGovern is over rated. Plays most games without an opponent. He's lucky that most coaches are f u c kwits who refuse to put an opponent on him.5 from the wing on debut wrote:Yeah, you're right. Yes, over rated 3 time All Australian. Most coaches are f u c kwits, as opposed to the geniuses on footy fan forums. What'sinaname wrote:McGovern is over rated. Plays most games without an opponent. IMO it is worth going with him another year,
He was and is a player with so much potential but he has been devastated by injury.
Lets hope our investment pays off and we can get him fit. Yes, it is a long shot but anything is possible.
If fit he would be a fantastic addition to our forward line.

Yep I have the same issue at L4-L5. He may never get back to 100% full time. some days you are great, other days you feel 100 years old. And it's very unpredictable. Lower Back Nerve related pain is bloody awful.cressyg wrote:Having suffered a similar pars defect injury (requiring surgery), a lot of people never make it back to playing sport. Jamie Elliott 100 Games
Sitting on 89 AFL games, he needs 11 more to reach the milestone.
It'll be a great day and a great effort if he can get there.
Fingers crossed for you Jamie!
