Yes, but the refs let people manhandle the big fella without calling fouls, and yes when they finally did he couldn't make the free throws. Shaq constantly complained about the treatment he got from the refs because of his size.E wrote:Hack a Shaq has nothing to do with the fact that he was big. There was nothing illegal about what they did. Hack a Shaq had more to do with the fact that he couldn't shoot free throws. totally different situation. He had Hack-a-Shaq... we got Box-the-Cox...

you are mixing two different things. they did let Shaq cop a lot of shit, but hack a shaq wasnt that. hack a shaq was literally them touching him to get a foul to put hm on the line.Cam wrote:Yes, but the refs let people manhandle the big fella without calling fouls, and yes when they finally did he couldn't make the free throws. they still do the tactive now. they have used hack a capella in the houston series. they used to use hack a deandre jordan too. u\its a tactic used to ruin a teams offense.
not a good tactic for the game. in fact they've outlawed it in the final 2 minutes of each half. Bad free throw shooters were being driven off the court in close games.

If he gets to compete 1 on 1 or get a run and jump at it, he holds them (mostly, unless his arm gets pulled down)RudeBoy wrote:Cox is obviously being overlooked for frees he should be getting each week. However, he also should be holding more marks and learning to hold his ground more and not be so easily knocked out of the contest. For a guy of his stature, he should be pulling down 8 marks each week.
When he's in a pack he has a player in front pushing back into him and another behind basically tunnelling him as soon as he tries to jump.
This somewhat rambling article addresses how the no 3rd man up rule has led to a renaissance for Ruckmen, but the tall forward is now endangered.https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/is- ... 4zhq7.html
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
Mason Cox 2018 not good enough?
With 9 matches, 5 goals an average of 9 disposals and a new found "choke" at set shots north of 35 metres out, things need to change. With Reid additionally being a "non presence" up forward these pillars represent our "Achilles heel" in 2018.

Nah, can't agree with that.
He has been mauled illegally in marking contests and still continues to draw 2 defenders. Some of his link work and getting the ball on with little taps has been great. Puts fear into defenders.
Has shown that he can take a grab this year & I reckon he's been good.

Thing that concerns and annoys me about Cox is that he doesn't take set shots when inside 50. Looking Kew that handpass off to Langdon on Friday.
The coaching staff should tell him to take responsibility and kick the goal.
Interesting after that Langdon kick was smothered, Cox got the ball and kicked it 50m.
He is a luxury we need to have on the forward line.
On the other hand, Reid looked so lost and out of his depth on Friday. Give home a week or two and then perhaps he needs to play the rest of the season as a backup - albeit a pretty reasonable one.
