jury is still out but cox did not look overwhelmed or lost in his debut. another win for our vfl set up.

When watching the replay you could feel his understandable nervousness: first in the line in the up pre game Anzac commemorations and second when he took the mark & went back to have a kick at goal in front of the 85,000 crowd. The look on his face.

^ yeah, the look om his face as he was walking back to take that first kick was of a man who knew he had to get the job done.

I demand to know where the poster E is? He predicted that Cox wouldn't ever play a senior game because Americans cant kick or something like that.....

Lazza you have a good memory. I remember E expressing a view along those lines. Generally I agree with a lot of his posts but as we see is slightly off on our big Cox! I think Mason has surprised many skeptics in the last year! And his development, being so rapid, has shocked even the most hardened footy supporters. You can't help but be excited at what he will bring to the table from now. He just didn't make a mistake!! I just loved that knock on to Steel and some physicality he is showing in contests those second and third efforts just the tonic we need. They seem so instinctive something that usually comes from having played the game at an early age. If this bloke hangs on to a few more marks we are in for some joyous times!!

Totally agree and am cautiously excited, if there is such an expression or feeling as that!!
He will be a bloody moster in this game if he continues to improve at the rate he is going. Let's hope so Mossi...

I said last year it wouldn't surprise me if Cox was our best tap ruckman before this season is out and nothing so far will make me change that view.

Importantly though I think he projects as being our most capable ruck forward and this will allow us to play him and Grundy together.

He's only going to get better.

Cox might be the Best Tap Ruckman because of his Height but gets lost in the Midfield after the Ruck Contest

Disagree DTM. For a big man I reckon he follows up pretty well. Some of his groundwork last week was really impressive and he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

If not for darcy moore's perfect pass in the fist 2 minutes of the game, the Cox experiment would have been a complete disaster!!!!!!

It is fine for the pies o advertise Cox in a game against Essendon, but the lad didn't really do much......

Yep odds are well and truely against him becoming a permanent KF, but can't knock the mans effort to date, I do however think he'll make it as a ruckman, IMO he's probably our best tap ruckman already, and he'd take more contested marks than our other 2 boys.

You're not helping your case there. If Dawes could play in the ruck he never would have been moved on. If Cox is a Dawes level forward while also being a good backup ruck (the latter already looks an almost certainty), then he'll definitely have an AFL career.
