that last qtr was putrid, either tired or no instruction from the coaching box.

the first 3 qtrs were reasonable.

so long Yaz, thanks for the memories. please get dropped

Jamo, you need to retire.

Hendo, where did you go?
This game plan will not cut it. Chipping and over possessing the ball. What is the forward line structure by the way, just bomb it straight to a whole line of opposition.?

I don't care what anyone says, and yes they are talented but Yarran and Hendo are liabilities at the moment. They simply don't give a toss.
What happened to our exciting run, why are we playing rugby with a footy ball, going back to move fwd???
Menzel, Yazz & Hendo are players that could obtain decent picks with.
Walsh even though had minimal opportunities is a player that won't go far at AFL level. Should be persisting with Boekhorst.
Everitt is soft
Tutt needs to go. What's he do to make the senior team?
Our senior blokes were the costly ones. Shocking skill errors.
Yep, yarran, Henderson and Jamison all awful. Rowe not far behind
Serious question. What did our coaches do to stop us continually kicking to an outnumber all game?
One team is paying with a bar of soap and can't hold anything.
The other team is playing with a wet footy and taking everything.
Effort been OK, and we are seriously undermanned compared to Freo, but I've felt all game it's been more about stemming the bleedimg rather than trying to attack and win.
We have a very poor list. Tonight is just reality.
Sandilands is faster than Casbolt.

That's how slow Casbolt is.
by rights, we should have been spanked.

aside from some poor umpiring, i think the thing that had destroyed us is thr skill errors, turn overs and the lack of vision.

not a bad result, we have the Collingwood Honourable Loss (trademarked) tonight.
Casboult worse than Yaz tonight.
Any chance any one of our flower idiot players will ever go into the firward 50 - i am friggin over them-
We're such a good wet weather team
Hendo going for the Jake Carlisle step ladder award tonight.
And if this is barkers game plan then he can piss off and take yarran with him....and after that pathetic effort so can jamo
Package Menzel up with Hendo so Cats get a woody and see what they will give us ...;)
Rowe, you just have to laugh.
Yep...
Yarran could not show how less he cares.
It was a good effort for 3 qtrs but I'm tired of a good effort being okay. I want wins but it won't happen with this list. Tonight and next week will show us the reality of our position.

Cripps, Docherty, Graham, Kruezer, Tuohy, Byrne, Jaksch, Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs, Buckley, Sheehan are keepers. The rest are up for grabs IMO.

We need to recruit players who can use the ball well and well under pressure. Elite ball users need to be the priority.
Yarran & Henderson - if you don't want to play, just let the front office know on the way out...

John Barker and co - is this the best game plan you can come up with to save your job? (Fun fact: you need a couple of forwards...)
Crap game.
Crap skills.
Crap setup.
Too many players missing.
Gave up at the end.

I am so over Chris Yarran. He had several chances to run the footy tonight but just kicked off a step. Again. Of all his disposals, you could say there was one good one. He should get dropped and if he goes I won't worry.

Cripps needs a rest He did nothing again tonight.
Curnow our top possession getter on the night? Funny that. I would never have guessed it.
Levi let himself down. Another 50 for chatting the umpire.
Good for 3 quarters. The white flag went up in the last quarter.
Our skills are so poor its not funny.
The top team against one of the bottom sides so the margin was to be expected but not really a reflection of the game.
We seem to have gone back to this awful chipping the ball around, what happened to the attacking style we were playing only a few weeks ago?
Next week is going to get ugly.
If we appoint Barker, we will be shit forever. I don't care if the players love him. Sick of them dictating anyway. Just dumb dumb players some of them.

It's the seniors making the errors not the young ones which annoys me the most.
happy to trade yazz soft and scared and has lost the plot
hendo gives us nothing playing like he wants out just trade him
rowe just makes poor decision and poor skills sack him
jamo is finished
everitt is soft as they come
Curnow tries but is a turnover king
carrots same as Curnow
will not improve till these blokes and a few more are gone
Once Daisy and Jones come back into the team, we will be competing for the flag again don't worry.
Ha, wit! Love it!

We've finally reached 200 pages!! :D
Thought we would get smashed tonight!!!!
Still lost by 42 points! :P
Our players look tired, but the number one focus over the Summer has to be on improving our skills. Just consistently let us down.
Tonight typifies my frustration as a supporter.

We are not clean enough, not disciplined enough and our "experienced" players are leaving a lot to be desired.

Really am going to struggle with this team for the next 5 years let alone this one.
We have a few disinterested guys at the moment, it's not helping having them out there. Doesn't matter who it is, club needs to honestly sort out which players are not prepared for a few lean years, and agree to part ways.
If I wanted to watch a team that can't make the simpest of kicks and handballs on a consistent basis, I would go down to my local footy ground and start following the local under 11s team.

How did a bunch of these players make it to AFL level if they are unable to execute the most basic skills of the game when they are under no pressure
Henderson's poor form has killed our forward line structure.

Not hopeful of getting within 60 points of the Hawks at Etihad next week.
30 to 13 Fmd....
Sick of the high loopy handball to a team mate under pressure, half the team seems to constantly do it.

Yarran, Menzel and Hendo must go for high draft picks. They are collectively flowering useless

Hendo has an over inflated opinion of his self worth. Lake is a better defender and is probably earning half of what Hendo will be offered by Carlton, let alone what other clubs will offer

Casboult can only play one position...FF. We are going nowhere with him

Rowe, Curnow and Carazzo will have their team mates decapitated with their U12 (y= -5x^2) kicking. Should be shown the door at season's end

Holman is a better kick than either those 3 (He is a keeper for me)

Tutt...complete waste of a pick

Bring Jacksh back in and drop Rowe

Docherty is a worry...lots of turnovers
We never played to conditions all night. Slippery ground and slippery ball against a team that were always going to outrun us, yet we seemed to be surprised when we got tackled immediately on taking possession, or slid on our arses when we were trying to stop them getting free of the contest.

A lack of switch options killed us all night, and if there was one we were so slow to take it (assuming we saw it), and the ball was delivered so slowly, the entire point of the switch was worthless because Freo could just one of their spare blokes behind the ball jog to position ready to make a play as needed.

The only thing we got 'right' structurally was the centre clearance work, but I couldn't help but laugh as the commentators lauded us for playing '1v1 there like Hawthorn did', when that's how we've played all year.

Simpson, Yarran, Cripps and Everitt are all playing injured.

Henderson is seeing the game so well but running to the contest so early, he might as well be lighting a flare and hoisting a neon sign before marking a spot on his back. Walters officially let the cat out of the bag tonight by using him as a step ladder twice; he signals our play to the opposition when we use him forward, and he gives aerially challenged blokes a chance when played in defence. Must have a team high number of kicks smothered as well.

Walsh was used poorly when he was brought on; should have given him a big tick for his fitness and played him from minute one, but when you pick that many talls you're forced to use a small as the sub and he was bottom of the pile. Speaking of talls, the whole reason we've been fading so badly is because we are consistently one tall too many, last week we were two talls too many and we shed one so hopefully the message is sinking in.

Play White or play Fields but stop playing both. Freo's forward personnel vaguely matched up with our defenders in terms of height but they were beaten in terms of foot speed. Imagine if we'd played Dick on Mayne; there's 2, maybe 3 goals off the board.

Another wonderful thing we could have done is not run into each other traffic constantly, which was partly down to the lack of talk (see: Everitt getting clipped by Bell in the 4th) and partly the number of blokes who stop running and ball watch the 1v1 ground ball as if they're hoping for a ball up, only to leave us with no option to pass because they're blocking the view of the guy who wins the ball while standing within touching distance of the bloke tackling him: if they get the handball, they're under pressure immediately. They should be directing them where to send the ball, then either breaking away to receive or putting in a shepherd.

Even Buckley, who normally has laser focus to the point of reacting too quickly to snatch at the football, cost us a couple of times by switching off in defence and then in attack, each time while he was closing an opponent.

I get Barker's working with a few simpleton coaches, simpleton players and a deflated football club, but the fundamentals were poor all night beyond work rate and there was plenty that could have been done in training and even on game day to correct for it.
Henderson was a good step ladder tonight.
I think, looking at the team on the field tonight, that was a par performance for three quarters. The last quarter was disappointing. The run and handball out of the backline from previous weeks completely disappeared.
That's no way to teach young players how to play. Zero forward structure. Barker isn't the man
Seems like "Menzel is playing injured" is the stock standard excuse for him. I don't buy it. He plays with no intensity. TRADE
Henderson is a B -B+ player who wants an A grade salary. He's a good - very good player. He's no superstar. TRADE
Yarran. Nuff said. TRADE
Casboult is an elite AFL mark. Every other aspect of his game is VFL. We can't carry his many VFL characteristics. Goes missing alot as well
Curnow is a good run with player but for Carlton to move forward, we need him to be AFL standard kick when he has the ball in his hand. Not good enough
Coached to minimise the loss. Disappointing stuff.
Feel for our players and especially the kids who win the ball and have nothing forward to kick too.
Not worth watching.
Not enough Menzel hate for my liking
I really shouldn't have expected too much tonight but I did see about 20 guys working extremely hard, particularly defending.

Yes, plenty of mistakes, but effort.

.....and then I saw two blokes who basically didn't give a stuff and torch the rest of their team mates.

I wouldn't let either of the cauliflower get on the bus.
Hawks have beaten Freo & Swans in last two weeks by a total of 27 goals. :yikes:
Don't think Yarran deserves to play. It was frustrating watching mope around the backline at half pace.

Its not Tutt's fault he is being selected, please match committee don't select him this week.
Please match committee, select Tutt this week.

Well looks like some of the players have a bit of mongrel somewhere!
form big footy:

Been told this from a friend who works in Carlton's media department, what he told me was that Carlton's running a series of videos on their website where they invite ex-coaches to oversee the what happens at the club and afterwards talk about what has changed since they were coaches.

This week they invited Gary Ayres and from what I have been told there was an incident and things didn't go according to plan. When Baker was addressing the players on the track Ayres was there being filmed for the series and things took a turn for the worse, Ayres started interrupting Baker and basically trying to take over the training session, it seems Ayres may have misinterpreted this as an opportunity for a job.. or something. Eventually some of the senior players got fed up with him because he was trying to run the session and escorted him off the ground. Security was called and surrounded him out the front of Visy Park, from what I have been told he was quite emotional and not handling it too well. "
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
