The season finale last night was brilliantly intense. It's really gone up a notch this year. Can't wait for next year.swoop42 wrote:Anyone seen this Wentworth series?

In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Bumped, because I just watched this, this weekend. Series One. 8 episodes, til 3am Friday night (way past my bedtime but I could not go to bed). Then I watched series 2. Same result, next day.watt price tully wrote:Anyone watching "Broadchurch" ABC 1, 8.30pm Friday night murder series. Final episode this week.
Gripping television.

It's gripping television as you said, WPT, but it's gripping television wrapped in a kind of allegory of how our society can go very wrong. Very brililant writing.
The full set DVDs are not pricey, and well worth the investment.

Tangentially, Tannin's Coca-Cola music video reminded me of a line from this episode of Peep Show. I think it's worth posting for its own sake (it's in three parts):

It feels like there's too much going on. Too many characters to try and keep track of all at once. I'll keep watching (especially after the last 30 seconds yesterday), but man, it's a bit of a hot mess so far.swoop42 wrote:Last weeks first episode of season 2 of True Detective didn't pull me in the same as season 1 but wow the last 30 seconds of episode 2 surely did.
Just hope it means what it should and wasn't just a cheap trick used for shock value.
Didn't see it coming if so.

I guess if you liked The Wire which I did having multiple story arcs isn't such a problem if done well.
It was always going to be near impossible to match the chemistry between the lead actors from last season.
Just wish the location was more exotic and foreboding than California.

I loved The Wire (except season 2) but they had 5 seasons to establish and bring their stories together. We're already a quarter of the way through TD so I just hope they can do it too.
Don't get me wrong, I still think it's very good. It's just all a bit confusing so far.

Bought the DVD set of Arrow Season 3 from the local market the other week for $20. Really good as the season had only just finished.
Chinese imports, any piracy is done somewhere else these are all wrapped up professional.
I'd downloaded a few episodes early in the season but couldn't get a consistent format and quality and CBF playing round with them. The DVD's work perfect in the PS3 on the big back TV.

Been watching a show called "Once Upon a Time" with the hugs & kisses, a fantastic idea for a show which has been pretty well done.
The first couple of seasons were on channel 7 a couple of years ago, but didn't catch on here, I think it may be more popular in the U.S. though.
We're on season 4 at the moment.
It's about a bunch of fairytale characters from the Enchanted Forest along with some other notable add ons that have been caught in a curse that has trapped them in our world. But each character has a twist, which really makes the show.
- Rumplestiltskin is the baddest most evil wizard going around.
- Little Red Riding Hood is actually the Big Bad Wolf under a full moon; and she ate her boyfriend.
- Captain Hook is a suave, good looking, ladies man, type pirate.
- The Huntsman from Snow White is having it off with the Evil Queen!
- Peter Pan the boy who never grew up is a "bad ass" evil mthfka who rules Neverland with an iron fist!
- Pinocchio is all grown up, and as he starts to make some dodgy decisions in life, he starts turning to timber.
The creators have played around with these and plenty of other characters' stories very well.
Once you get passed the cheese & corn and accept the fact there'll be eye-rolling moments, it's pretty easy to get hooked.
I highly recommend for mindless entertainment with a twist.

This post reminded me of how I'd seen a few minutes of this show a while back and thought it looked pretty good.Mugwump wrote:Bumped, because I just watched this, this weekend. Alas I downloaded both seasons and enjoyed them both.
If you liked Broadchurch you may want to give the original European version of The Bridge (Bron/Broen) a go.

It's a Danish/Swedish crime drama with a delightfully odd female detective as the lead.

I'm going to watch the original Danish version of The Killing next.
