Let's not kid ourselves, a lack of quality on our list is our biggest concern

It's a woeful list

Think about this: Cameron Wood is currently our number 1 ruckman (I'll leave it at that)
Cameron Wood!
It is amazing when you talk to the men that have played they do not take it as serious as well do and very few have a undying love to a club that we do
So what's happening is were in rebuild but rebuild might mean blow outs.
Blow outs mean nobody coming
Nobody coming means reduced revenue
Reduced revenue is a disaster.
So the club doesn't know what to do.
This blow out means they're going to play kids.
These kids are not good enough generally or can't run out a game.
Means bigger blow outs.
Keep in mind were finished from free to air for years.
Which again means financial disaster.

The club really hasn't planned itself correctly over years.
Terrible decisions
Terrible appointments

This is the perfect storm for what's happening now.
Don't get high on your own supply...
It was never going to be as easy as what we thought...

Club is pretty much washed up
The board of directors is supposed to give the club direction.
It's been all over the place for years.
It has no idea what to do now

Can you smell what they were cooking?
The big Coll, Rich, Ess games are a thing of the past now. And no kid in their right mind will barrack for Carlton unless they're bullied by their parents.
Remember the worry in 2012 was that if we dont get in Malthouse we would lose 10k members.
One more thing to consider in all this
Most of us had already given up on the club.. And this team
But I've fielded three calls from people angry and disgusted today.
These same people have had the same feelings all season.
So just relax.. You're in the cell with big bubba now... Drive fight it...
I wish it was only Richmond/Melbourne territory, but this is much much worse........ This is Fitzroy territory.
Deep breath & just think in 16 weeks he'll be gone. Could be even sooner if we're lucky.
I thought I'd be happier seeing you all come to your senses re Mick,
but no.
I really not.
Bleak is more like it.
How many weeks was that Em?
can we put in a counter on this thread?
' 160 more sleeps til..etc.'
I think an announcement is imminent.

Mick will announce he will retire at the end of the season.

Both he and MLG will save face and Mick gets a long farewell tour.
The President and his men announce a rebuild... round 2 in the final year of a coaching contract... you get nothing but mixed messages and confusion.

You either tell the coach that WINS won't be the deciding factor in a possible re-appointment or you sack him... then you "play the kids", if that is the goal.

Problem is this board want WINS and a rebuild at the same time ...bigger problem is the bulk of the supporter base demand this as well.

Mick knows that it's only wins that will save his career... so he picks the best 22 to try and achieve this... if you put you hatred aside for a minute you'd be able to understand, even if you don't agree.

People that want Mick to step down and forgo $$$... would you? we chased him... we threw the cash at him.

Is it self serving? possibly... the same way the board deflects blame... players leave for more cash... or Bryce Gibbs only plays well in contract years etc
Our kick outs have never been worse. Even in the Pagan era.
really, enough is enough.

our board should retire on masse.
For God's sake, end it today
The club?

Might as well, it's far beyond a change of coach, the entire club needs tearing down and rebuilding.
Mick needs to go but he isn't the only one. This is a club issue.

Serious question marks over MLG, the board, Trigg, Recruiting dept, Coaches & McKay.

Thankfully Hughes & Rodgers have gone already.
mick has sacked himself. but yeah, the bigger questions need to be asked about the board.

action must be taken one way or another.

we're a disaster.
The problem is ... we need to be free of the Madhouse ... but appointing any of those assistants would be a mistake because they would not need to do much to improve this side and we don't want to get stuck with them based on any improvement this year. At the end of the year we need to take our time and make some really smart decisions.

The Madhouse has caused massive damage ... but we need to start fresh at the end of the year. If someone has to be appointed now ... make it clear that it is only a four month appointment and that they will not be getting the job at the end of the season.

All the coaches must go at the end of 2015.

What I am really scared of is that we dump Madhouse and appoint someone like Barker.
Like I was saying last week, there's a culture of fear in terms of making mistakes right now. A coach that makes 8 changes to the previous week has a lot to answer for in terms of delivering a more competitive performance, otherwise, why make such wholesale changes?

He has to go now, because somewhere along the chain from supporters through to the board, people are paying one or more parties lip service, and it's translating to a player group that has no confidence in itself or its game plan.
Malthouse is doing worse than Pagan. He's a disaster.

Raw Hammer wrote:So, happened to be driving past Etihad Stadium during the last quarter of Carlton vs GWS, and a parking spot presented itself right outside the gate. So, I parked my car and proceeded to enter ES to experience the 'rabble' for myself from the 20 min mark of the last quarter. Was worth every minute! Empty stadium, all the play in front of my pocket as time and time again Carlton players bombed errant torps to free GWS players on the wing. The crowd groaned time and time again, until security and police started gathering. "What's going in?" I thought to myself. Closer inspection would reveal the players' race was close by. They were preparing for the barrage of abuse that was certain to proceed the final siren. The Blues 'faithful' gathered (as did I, the imposter), and loud taunts of "embarrassing" etc. began. I joined in myself with audible 'booing'. It was a mighty 15 minutes that I feel privileged to be a part of. Soon after I walked out towards my car only a minute away and drove back home. Hateful. Lovely.
You hope we win Tommorow

I am at a loss for words. I was expecting a shellacking to be honest, but not that.

As for luring a GWS gun to us at the end of the season...ho ho ******* ho.

Its clear that nobody on Earth wants to play for us, especially the selected team.
Mick: In awe of GWS, too much talent. We haven't got the manpower. Have to have unity.

Last thing I say when they run down the race 'play the game'. Some players are robotic.
WELL THE FACT IS I'M NOT GENIUS!!!

And think before you reply. THE CLUB IS ALREADY IN THE SHIT.

Tell me what good is it keeping 30 year old has-beens, club rejects, list cloggers and mature-aged draft picks that aren't going to last long?

Here is the reality check, this list is not going to get us anywhere. If you think otherwise, THAN YOU ARE NUTS! It's common sense.
Oh great, John Elliot being promoted on Open Mike tonight. FFS.
Should be a fascinating interview!
Again, a complete lack of run. This may be a cause or effect of our lack of confidence, but it looks more and more likely that we completely buggered up our preseason
All our dreams are up in smoke, All our enemies are ******* stoked.
Precisely! :D
Malthouse loses before the team runs out.

Hes a disgrace.
What is clear to me is we have gone nowhere since Ratten was sacked. Lost players, good players are no longer very good. The football is ugly. There are few redeemable features there at the moment.

We are right now years away from competing, assuming the game plan is viable and can be taught. Let's not kid ourselves. We won the finals lottery in 2013 because the players returned to their old game plan. We have failed abysmally with this magic game plan that nobody seems to be able to pin down. All we hear is players aren't listening and the same players being dropped and being brought back again.

I feel like I'm being feed a line about this premiership winning game plan that the side who won a flag under it, no longer use.
**** this club.
What's with all the negativity. Do you realise we are still a mathematical possibility to make the final eight.
I feel bad that this is the case, but I almost wanted GWS to keep pressing and thrash us harder in the hope Mick would be guaranteed to go.

Don't get me wrong, I know he's not the complete problem, just part of it I feel, but we need to start somewhere. And yes the board too... but can't see a bunch of power hungry, rich leeches going anywhere.

On the whole we're just a cluster**** or a perfect storm of epic fail. We have so many issues ATM.
The players obviously do not respect MM or his crap game plan to the point that they didn't try to execute any game plan today. To build another side under the socialist rules of the AFL will take the best part of 8-10 years. A 70yo MM is not the answer, he's already past his use by date.

If MM stays or an internal caretaker is appointed the players will not bother trying. The only solution is to appoint a long term coach this week. Other clubs are not going to stand in the way of an assistant who is appointed to a 3 year contract.

The axe must fall on Monday

I like the comment about relocating to Tassie. Couldn't agree more. South Melbourne got shunted to Sydney and Fitzroy to Queensland, when both were faring better than the Lazy Blues from Princess's Park. Tassie needs a team and Carlton is that team. I admit it's a bit tough on our southern cousins to foist this mob on them, but we should have a Tas team in the comp.
Interesting idea since Launceston play in the dark navy blue as well. Could be a useful ploy by the AFL. Get the Hawks out anyway, as they are gifted $5 million a year by the Tassie taxpayer.

The Tassie Blues. Has a ring to it.

Mick has to be the best deflector in the business. He crapped on about how awesome GWS are and on the crowd size and them booing he said the members should support through thick and thin. Not much comment on his shitness and that of his team.

Although I have to admit journalists are just dumb and ask stupid questions. One idiot asked Mick if he was worried that they were playing on consecutive Friday nights on the big stage etc... (are you f.... serious) to which the master deflector said I have no say on the draw and when we play, we play when scheduled. No one wanted to ask Mick a decent question in 10 minutes.
