2014 AFL Grand Final: Sydney vs Hawthorn
Well it's come down to this, the two best performed teams of 2014 playing off for the premiership cup complete with the added sideshow of Buddy versus his former side.
Could the AFL scripted it any better?
I think not.
It's remarkable to think that the biggest name in the game just 12 months ago was a part of a Hawthorn premiership side now he looms large as the figure standing between them and back to back flags.
They couldn't beat Sydney with him in 2012 so I can't see them beating them now without him.
Sydney to be the 2014 AFL premiers.
Let's hear ya!

Can't bring myself to go for either team. Probably first time since at least 2008 when I don't really care who wins. Sydney, I guess, because at least it will put the COLA shenanigans in the spotlight that they deserve.

It's the best two sides of the year in the Grand Final even though it's a very predictable match-up and of course the media and the AFL will love the fact that it's Buddy vs. Hawthorn.
I think people are writing off the Hawks far too easily even though Sydney are deserving favourites after an impressive victory on the weekend against North Melbourne. Hawthorn have reminded me of our side from 2011 where they seem to play in bursts a lot but they struggle to play four quarters of consistent football very often. Sydney's record at the MCG is quite ordinary and the Hawks did beat them narrowly at the MCG during the Home and Away season, but nevertheless the Swans will be hard to overcome on Saturday.
For the first time in a long time I can't say I have a clear side I'll lean my support towards. Two years ago, I would have backed the Swans without question but since this whole COLA farce and being able to obtain Tippett and Franklin I've lost massive respect for them, and the Hawks are as arrogant as they come even though it's difficult to not admire the way they've built a strong club without needing help from others.
By the way shouldn't this thread merge with the other Grand Final thread?

Interesting that a few are tipping that on here.John Wren wrote:i predict the umps will be three who controlled the sydney prelim, meredith, nicholls and pannell.
sydney by plenty.
Your guess is as good as mine but for me the hawks are in this game up to there eyeballs.
For me the biggest question is whose victory will hurt me the less the COLA aided swans or the arrogant we win grand finals hawks.
Sydney by 7pts.
My tip and hope.
