Morrigu wrote:Well didn't learn it today per se but there are some truly great Aussies doing amazing things and what I learnt today is that I should get of my butt and nominate such folk for Aussie of the Year - so that some bloody celeb or highly paid athlete, scientist, medico etc doesn't get the gong again!

So my nominations are in no particular order:

Sean Willmore : President of the International Rangers Federation and Founder of the Thin Green Line Foundation. The former Victoria Parks Ranger has dedicated his life to nature and those that protect it.

Damien Mander: Founder & CEO of the IAPF - former Special Operations Sniper and Clearance Diver in the Australian Defence Force.
Oh wow, I can't pick between the 2. That's 2 docos I'm buying. Amazing stories.

They of course won't win because no ones heard of them. Give me a couple of days, I'll get it circulating on Facebook! 2 amazing men. Thanks for sharing the stories, just wow. Xxx

If you get a piece of PTFE tape (thread seal), rip it in half and roll it. You can use it as floss to get that annoying bit of whatever is stuck in between your teeth.

Man I must be tired, I first read that as bang your bottom on the bar and rub it in circles.

I like the middle aged bit, seems alcohol is better for us than water, when I have the energy to move, I'll go find some!

Cheers

Apparently Possums eat Ratsac.

Did some cleaning up in the shed today, cleaning all the bits of twigs and mess everywhere, where the possums have trashed the place.

While cleaning up found a really big one, in a reasonable state of mummification. I've seen enough rats like that to know what causes it.

Oh the poor thing.

A dog I had once ate some rat sac, I got her to the vet in time, luckily.

Man that stuff is awful, a horrible way to die, even for rats,

I learned a few new things.

1 was the Buttered Cat paradox

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttered_cat_paradox

The theory is a cat will always land on it's feet, and toast always falls buttered side down, so what happens if you attach buttered toast to the back of a cat and drop it?

2 was how to make a mini gas stove out of a couple of soft drink cans.

http://7secvidsu4.us/cool/

3 was what to do in a blackout if you can't find a candle but have canned tuna in the pantry.
