Currently our Pick are 52, 55, 58 likely to move up 10 to 12 places lets say 40, 43, 46

“I know it looks bad at number 52 but the way the bidding system works, it comes back down at the end of the draft,” Collingwood list boss Justin Leppitsch said.

“We did know we were risking sliding back a few but we still think there are some quality players in this draft there that we can look at. You can’t get everything you want, can you? You can’t bring in the best player in the trade period and also think you can get the perfect draft hand as well. It’s just not logical.”

I really like what I've read about Faull. Apparently he's quite agressive in his attack on the ball and also competes well at ground level. He sounds like he really fits our style of play.

Does this help Brions, GC and or Carlton with their picks for academy and F/S or are they done for points already? I can’t think other teams would trade down picks now unless they think they’re on the hook for a player in next years draft, which we won’t play as we already offloaded our Future First.

We only have three late picks, so the only real way to move up the order is by offering up two picks in order to get one earlier pick back.
That would then leave us with two live picks.
Assuming we have to take three selections ( ? ) we would then need to split our second or last remaining pick in order to take us back to our second and third selections again.
At the risk of repeating myself, there’s a heap of ways to skin a cat when it comes to the draft but any pick movement would come down to another club wanting what we have, as well as no other clubs having any better to offer. We would need a bit to fall into place if we were to go on and improve our position on the night.

^ @Charlie Oneeye have you heard of Isaiah Markovsky? 2nd cousin of the Daicos boys. Played for our VFL team in the last round win over the VFL Lions. Kicked 2 very nice goals. Moves more like Nick than Josh. I reckon he's worth a draft or rookie shot.

I was half kidding about unknown players, but when I think about it.. if the Draft is as deep as they say, there has to be a greater chance of picking that unknown late developer who missed out on state selection.

Could. But he'll more likely go on our VFL list. He's not rated in the top 60.

I was unaware that this was his draft year. I know ppl at the Chargers who said he was just as good, if not better than IQ. But it looks like lots has changed. I haven't heard much about him leading into this draft recently.

Any insight into our Academy player Doug Kerr? 192cm, heard he's a good user of the ball, nice kick at goal, may have been somewhat stifled for opportunity in the midfield due to playing with Oakleigh Chargers (Finn O'Sullivan and Jagga Smith).

Unfortunately, I never thought Sam Weideman was much of a player. He's failed at 2 clubs.

I'm probably the most guilty at looking into getting players based on their family connection to the club, even if its a minor connection (Wilmont, Hotton, Woewodin, even Jonty Scharenberg who never ended up being drafted at all). At the time of his draft, I wanted Sam, and obviously his family connection was huge. He looked like the KPF we'd been looking for. Now that he's been delisted by 2 clubs, you'd think his chances have dried up. I dont think he ever had any passion to play for Collingwood and was never interested in playing here. I'm sure if we threw him a lifeline that he'd jump at it, but I cant see it happening now.

So now I'm going to look at family connections to Collingwood in the upcoming draft;

Noah Caracella. F/S eligible for Essendon, but father Blake only played 27 games for the Pies. It's sounding like Noah is not being discussed as a possible draft selection, in the national or rookie drafts.

Taj Hotton. Father Trent played 17 games for Collingwood. His brother was drafted by the Saints a couple drafts back. Trent wasn't the most professional character and left the club with an unfulfilled potential. He laster played for Carlton too. Taj is expected to be drafted within the top 15.

Jagga Smith. Yes we had his father Michael on our list, but he never played at senior level. Jagga is expected to be a top 3 selection. I believe he supported Collingwood growing up?

Luke Quaynor. IQ's younger brother and a possible academy selection. There hasnt been a lot of talk about him and I forgot that this was his draft year. Is that a bad sign? We'll see where his name is called.

Will Rantall. Jays younger brother. Not a lot on him. He doesn't appear in any of the phantom drafts, etc.

Sid Draper. Arlo's younger brother, expected to be a top 5 selection.

Isaiah Markovsky. A relation to Josh and Nick Daicos (Cousin?). A rookie draft prospect.

Zai Millane. Darrens nephew. A Gold Coast academy player and a rookie draft prospect.

Are there any others I'm not aware of?

If he were, he'd be rated more highly. His coach told me, he has similar attributes, but a bit more timid.
Doesn't have the pace of his brother, but he is a good defender. Struggled a bit at vfl level. I think he'll start on our vfl list and see how he develops.
